Good question. I never thought to ask. I just felt that abs after after AM cardio would be fine at least 1x a week.

I would just take glutamine before the AM cardio, not a protein shake,,want to keep the kcal down as to decrease body fat!

    What you think??

If you are cutting, then you would not have a shake before an am cardio session. Glutamine and Vitamin c is fine with water but don't put anything else in your stomach till your done.

Im just doing the AM cardio to keep gains clean from my bulk. Think ill stick with the Glut/Vit C approach..maybe add some Niacin to get a sweat going

Cardio a.m. is not catabolic provided it's executed correctly and nutrition is spot on the other 23+ hours of the day.

Abs are a muscle - treat them like any other muscle - you wouldnt work them out on empty stomach before cardio so why do abs like that.

hey, whats your general goal from performing abs before breakfast?

i asked this question on a few other forums a while back.

the general response i got was that ab exercises generally burn few calories in comparison to cardio, so if the goal is to keep fat down i don't see them contributing greatly.

i just stick mine in with my weight sessions, whether bulking or cutting, and it worked fine

Just want to get them over and done with i suppose instead of rushing them at the end of a hard weights session

I found that doing heavy squats is all my abs need, maybe a few killer sets on ham day.

Glutamine before cardio? Does this interupt the fat burning process? What about 5-6 uni-liver tablets pre cardio?

your body is going to use anything it can for fuel if you are doing am cardio in a fasted state. take come caffeine and a baby aspirin and get going. nothing else.

i add them into my program for 3 weeks on and 3 weeks off. i like torching them. weighted crunches, knee/leg raises, decline medicine-ball twists... hit them in your program for a while.

but some guys DO do them fter cardio. some go EoD and some ETD. do what works, do it for a while and see how it seems to be working. if you are going to do them in an attempt to burn more fat, diet will do that.
