    Toes Going Numb During Cardio

Anyone experience this? My wife complains that he toes go numb on both feet when she uses a stepper/stair master, a stationary bicycle, or recumbent bike. She cannot remember if they go numb on a treadmill. She has experimented a little bit with different shoes, but usually wears a neutral pair of New Balance runners. She has tried them tied tighter and looser and it doesn't seem to help...

    Any ideas?

I've had this too. At first I thought maybe my shoes were too tight so I tried loosening the laces a bit. This made it worse!

That's when I realized that my feet were sliding forward in my shoes and my toes were kind of getting rammed up against the toe of the shoe. Whether this is resulting in restricted blood flow or a possibly a pinched nerve I'm not sure. Probably a circulation issue since it seems to happen the same amount on both feet.

So I keep my laces tight again and try to keep my feet from sliding forward relative to the inside of my shoes. For example, on bike if my heel is on the pedal my feet slide forward but if the ball of my foot is on the pedal they don't as much. On elliptical machines it's tougher since where you put your feet is angled forward.

Also I wiggle my toes now and then when they start to get a bit numb. When I used to do cardio at home sometimes I just wore socks and it didn't happen.

    Hope this helps.
