dead lift spot???????
ive been around gyms since the 70s.......i was asked yesterday by a pair of young lifters to help with a spot.....?????? i asked if they were joking.....no they said ....get hold off one side of the bar and assist.......i refused.. am i just old school or is spotting for dead lifts new?

i have never seen someone getting spotted on deads, it to dangerous for the spotters.

thats the thing about dead if you fail or cant get in up all you do is drop it no spotting and form is one thing can't spot form so nope

I agree, there is no danger in just dropping the weights on the floor if you fail the lift.

update......been seeing them boys around the gym...and sure enough they are spotting on deads. its more of an assist to get the weight up,then to stop the weight from falling....i told them to use boxes, or a smith press...but they got smart, i went my way and laugh when i see them
