How high do you guys bring the bar to when doing front barbell shoulder raises?
When you guys do front barbell or front dumbbell shoulder raises, where do you bring the bar to? Do you bring the bar to shoulder height where your arms are parallel to the floor or do you bring it higher to say eye level? What would be better if your goal is to really work the front delts rather than really work the middle traps?

IMO don't go above parallel on (any) shoulder raises. As soon as you break parallel and move above it the traps get the bulk of the load and the delts are no longer the primary mover at that point. You can feel the delts 'resting' when you go above parallel. If you want a greater ROM use an incline bench and place yourself at a 30-45 degree angle or so (leaning back on the bench as if it were an incline press) and now gravity is effective over a much larger part of the ROM.
Google Tellekinetics or Jerry Telle for an in depth explanation of this idea as well as how to adapt it to other bodyparts.

Ive done raises parallel, and to eye level and above...ive also hurt my rotator cuff on a number of occasions.
if there is any added benefit for going above parallel, i can assure you its not worth taking a 2 month break nursing a rotator cuff injury.
stick to parallel and slow controlled form
