I was doing 150's for db for 10-12 reps a couple of months ago when I was in a bulking cycle. I had to deadlift them from the ground. It took a bit of energy to get them in a ready-position.
Luckily, I have them here in my house. I have a semi-gym with a bunch of dumbbells.

yup, i grunt and am loud but not to have people look at me but b/c i am lifting heavy bro. My gym (Lifestyles - corporate as hell) only goes up to 100s. So i am at the end of the road with that. I actually don't want people looking at me when i am grunting and sweating pounding out the last couple chest reps. My gf i think is embarrassed by it. She says it sounds like when i am bombing her from behind. hahaha

I was in europe lately for a month and visited a gym. The guy was so proud to show me their heaviest dumbells: 90lbs... He said "that's more than enough, isn't it??" I answered "well no it's not" and he laughed, thinking I must be joking... Then I asked how much I could load the squat bar with cause it looked kinda small, nowhere near an olympic bar. The squat rack didn't look too sturdy either... He was like "oh as much as you want, it easily stands 300lbs"... "but I squat over 550lbs..." He said "yeah sure go ahead"! I could hardly fit 500lbs on this weak bar, I did a couple of reps, the bar was so tiny, it almost broke. I left immediately...
The other gym I went to had 150's and believe me, it's rare over there!! You can always duct tape a 10 on each end.

Damn I did the 150s today and I wasnt happy at all, granted I never am so I can push myself harder and harder. I only got them 3 good times.
My buddy said "hell man our chest workout is almost done (flys, flat, incline, and then dumbell press), you said you were going to just try them for fun" I guess thats true but I wanted them 10 reps or close to it. Next time maybe, I would be happy if I could shoulder press them hehe.. I guess I did ok but still not happy.

After reading this all i can think is how much i miss the old basement gyms, lots of heavy weight and you could make as much noise as you wanted, and you could smell the hard work in those places.
Think one of the posts said it, most gyms now are fitness centres, people don't want to get dirty in the $200 training suits........
