When do you stop
Do you stop your work outs only after you have done the regimen you came in to do? Or is there any time that you feel you have reached your stopping point due to pump or a 'feeling' that you have reached a point where you've torn down enough?
I sometimes work through a great pump and wind up feeling deflated. It is sometimes one way and sometimes another. It is like I dial the perfect combo sometimes and I understand the less is more, but other times it is a chore to get through the entire routine, the 'feeling' is different. I make pretty consistant gains, but I am wondering what you guys think.
Thanks.

Sleep, calories, mood, atmosphere are some things that may play a part in it. When I get 10 hours of sleep, 2-3 meals in b4 workout, great mood, not many people in the gym, listening to great song then my workout usually rocks! Sometimes i do not get enough sleep and sometimes I am in a really bad mood and sometimes I see too many people I know and my workout kinda lags.
Also you may be working out too long; therefore burning up lotta glycogen and you are just spent.
Just some thoughts.

Yeah, i also take a week off here and there, it just starts to feel like you need it and it does wonders.

i agree with the above posts, though i don't like to take a full week off unless necessary
normally if i really don't want to go to the gym for a couple days then i'll just take 2-3 days off and when i come back i'll start with my favorite muscle group so i can get a nice psych boost from it

I usually stick to the number of sets I had planned but will sometimes stop early if I feel the pump going away. Thats a good indicator to me they are wiped out.

IMO, if I get to a point where I can't put up the weight that I did the last time I was in the gym on the same exercise, then it's time to go home. I want to at the least match what I did last time. I switch exercises a lot too, so that has something to do with it as well.

Thanks to all. I hurt my back in December and was out 10-14 days, I can't remember which. But I have been on a pretty good run with good raults and have gotten back to almost even.
I think the mian part of my question is about the pump really. A lot of times I work through a pump and get deflated by the end of a routine, even though it might be the same on as the last week and I am curious as to if anyone ever quits at the peak of thier pump, and if so is it beneficial to do so.
That probably is a better way to state the question. Sorry for the poor communication in the origanl post.
I took saturday and sunday this week. I usually do a 3 on 1 off schedule.
