    rack deads

who here does rack deadlifts? im just tryin to find some info on these and there effectiveness over regular deads. for me i'd rather just do regular deads. i suppose if i wanted to give my hammies a break and concentrate on mostly lower back, grip and traps then i'd do them.

just lookin for some peoples thoughts on these and how they do them. where do u start the bar out at?

I do rack deads because I'm a powerlifter/strongman and rack deads help on the lock out portion of the deadlift which is essential in competition. It also overloads the hams, glutes, and lower back for increased strength in that event/lift. I'm not sure of the bodybuilding implications this lift has but it is very useful for strength athletes.

I do racks, love em' great exercise for the sticking point right before lockout like BgMc said. I set it up at, or just a tiny bit above my knee caps. allows a good pull range but keeps the legs out of it quite a bit. great strength builder! a good deadlift wont hurt lifters no matter what form of lifting they persue.

im gonna start doing these i think. also thinking about doing sumo deadlifts tho.

i do mostly bodybuilder type training but also stick with the basics like squats, deads, and bench. i wanna look like a bodybuilder but hold my own when it comes to these power exercises. tonight i did a full back workout then finished with 5 sets of deads with 405lbs for 5 reps each. at my best i was able to get 495 for 3 reps. i dont use a belt or wraps either. just good ole chalk.

I do my from the floor but Im no powerlifter either. I can see how racks would be good for strength athletes though. Give em a shot..
