Working out a single muscle group 2 times a week...good when cycling or not?
When cycling,
example: 1st cycle. Test e / d bol. 500mg/week. 12 weeks. 35mg/week. 4 weeks.
... Should one continue his regular workout routine (4 days a week. One muscle group a week...but extremely intense workouts) or change the routine to 5-6 days a week, working out a muscle group 2 times a week?

I think working a muscle twice/wk helps you stay more conditioned. Seems like everybody strays away from it now, but I've never had a problem with it. As long as I space shoulders and chest apart good enough I'm fine.

i am not on cycle right now and use a half body split basically. 1 on 1 off, works out to hitting the same muscles every 4 days or so. eating really well, and sleeping well and have made great gains without gear. when and if i do get back on cycle i might switch to 2 on 1 off, but we'll see.
gotta remember everyone recovers differently, so some people need more time and some need less. try both slpits and see which one works best for you.

I get better results doing 1 bodypart every 6-7 days. I have tried 2 x week but it became too much. I began hating the gym. Gotta love it. Dont let it become a second job. :=)

I have a friend who trains every muscle 2x a week (except quads) and he has no problem with it. Personally I can only train each muscle once a week. Try it and see how it works, we are all different.

I used to train 2x/wk, but as the weights and intensity got higher, I caught myself starting to slack off because I knew I had the "next workout" in a few days. I actually looked pretty good. Just didn't get any bigger.

Just depends on how well you recover.. Some bodyparts i can train more than twice a week, others only once..

i perosnaly have tried training a musclw twice a week and always find dissapointing results
its not that u cant train a muscle twice a week, but what most people dont relelize is they end up overtraining the muscle through indirect training
its also funny that the muscles i see trained twice a week 97% of the time are arms lol
the other 2% is either calves or chest
and the other 1% is the rest of the muscle groups
what makes it worse is they do 9-12 set for biceps or triceps twice a week
totaling 24 sets for each muscle
then they do alot of chest or back work, e.g 12-16 sets which again stimulates arms indirectly
so we have 36-40 sets total now, and we havent included anything from shoulders yet.....
so its not training a body part twice a week thats problem, but the fact you end up training them 3-4 times a week without realising
and then you wonder why they dont grow when your hitting them twice a week?.....
even if you MIGHT be able to get away with training them twice a week, theirs more then likely chance you wont
if you can grow off training them once a week, why risk overtraining yourself for that little extra bit of muscle growth? its not alot ur going to gain if you do succeed anyways
plus you have a very good chance of not growing becuase ur overtraining them, which si even worse coz u working twice as hard and getting less results.....
so dont bother hitting them twice a week
on cycle ur already doing more volume each workout then you normaly would hitting them once a week
adding in twice a week with double the amount of volume is silly
once a week is all you need, remeber muscles grow at rest, and when your training with high volume already ur muscles need all the rest they can get even with gearLast edited by ranging1; 01-13-2010 at 04:33 AM.

My joints can hardly handle training heavy once a week. If you're lifting with extreme intensity, and you should be, once a week is enough.
IF you're not lifting heavy because you have not yet developed the strength you may be able to get by lifting more often. I trained 2x a week until I reached approx 200 lbs bodyweight. Then I found myself still a bit sore from the previous workout of that bodypart. My growth was starting to slow and I was feeling more joint pain. From then on, once a week. Im currently bulking, eating everything I can with supplements and I feel like Ive been beaten daily.
