Walking or Running for fat burning?
Hey guys, just wanna have some input from guys who are able to get there bf% to around 8%. When doing your cardio sessions, do you opt to walk on the treadmill for an hour at a time, or run/jog? Guys normally dont distinguish between the two and I often see the pro's walking on the treadmill so wanna know how effective it is. Ive always run for 45mins or cycled for an hour but its difficult to stay motivated to maintain that intensity all year round- and if I had to walk (obviously more often and for longer periods) would the fat burning effects still be as noticible? (the mental strain would definately be much less)

Its whatever keeps your heart rate in your fat burning zone (60-70% max heart rate) I personally walk with the tread mill at an incline to get there because when I run I get shin pumps that are unbearable.

If you havent already figured it out, heres a link to help you find where your heart rate should be at.

No problem. I sometimes have a problem getting my heart rate up on my cardio only days. Try mixing in some short stints of jogging in with your incline walking to keep your h.r. up. Do a jog for a minute or so and then walk at an incline. If you notice your h.r. falling out of your ideal zone, do another quick jog to get it back up.

Ok yeah great! Ill definately give it a bash and add in those jogs (pretty excited to see the results coz ive only ever run or cycled). Will put up log in the near future to show my progress...just need to wait a while as im still recovering from a broken ankle. Thanks again!
