It's doesnt have to be a one or the other setup. I think you will find most people do both.

Most people definitely do both weight training and cardio. It sounds like your goal is primarily fat loss and not increasing muscle size. But the truth is that the more muscle you have, the more fat you will burn, as maintaining muscles costs energy (calories). And as far as that goes, if you carry more muscle your body will be burning energy all the time to maintain those muscles, whereas if you only do cardio, your body will only be burning energy during the time your heart rate is elevated. So a good plan would be to combine weight training with cardio. I would recommend doing low-intensity cardio in the AM on an empty stomach, and high-intensity interval training after your weight workout. Most importantly, to really cut fat, you should get a good nutrition plan going. The diet forums can help you with that one.

I 100% agree with Mackdiesels post.

And def keep the weight training.

To get an idea how good weight training is for cardio/fat loss purposes...

Do an intense workout. Break a sweat. Short rest periods. High intensity.

Then halfway through it... take your heart beats per min.

I bet you they will be up in the 120-130's.

Which is prime fat burning heart rate.
Thats where I get my heart rate WHILE doing cardio.

So figure you just worked out for an hour...

Your heart rate was up there for most of that...

You just did an hour of cardio basically.

WHILE weight training. So keep the weight training. Add in some more cardio.

    Youll be gold.
