    Need Help Suggestions for Legs

I am recovering from a herniated degenerative disc at l5s1. I am looking for some advice or suggestions about exercises to work my quads and hams with out compressing my spine? Obviously doing squats and dead lifts are a thing of the past for me. unfortunately my legs are under developed compared to my upper body for this reason

Not a professional but leg curls and extensions. Possible vertical leg press? I got one at home and i dont know if it puts pressure on spine but it doesnt seem so.

I no longer do squats because of degenerative back (arthritise) as well. I hit the leg extensions to pre-exhaust my quads and then I blast them with presses. Then I follow up with hack squats. I usually leave not being able to walk very well.

How do your quads respond to less weight and more reps, say in the 18-20 range?
