question on muscle fibers thread by marcus300
Hi guys,
I have read Marcus diary on how to hit different muscle fibers.
In brief he spoke about the 2a fast twitch and 2b fast twitch.
And he said in order to reach maximum muscle density and size is to work to positive failure to activate those 2b muscle fibers. But it was also said to do so between 6 to 12 reps max
My question is, what about if I reached positive failure but with much higher reps, let's say 15 to 20 reps, would that still activate 2b muscles fibers (bcoz I reached positive failure), or no it will hit different muscle fibers and différents goals ?
Hope I'm clear in my explanations.

On the contrary, working to muscular failure will primarily work type I muscle fibers. Type IIB fibers are called fast glycolotic fibers and are best worked with lower reps, higher intensities, speed/dynamic days, olympic lifts, explosive lifts and exercises, etc. You won't ever isolate which muscle fibers fire but by doing 15-20reps you're primarily working slow oxidative fibers (type I) and fast oxidative fibers (type IIA).

Remember Negative failures as well, people are hell bent on positives but miss out on the benefits of doing negatives it really helps you stimulate the fibres and come back stronger after each workout
