    Tire Flips....

How much do tractor tire weigh? I have the chance to go get one that wont cost me a dime. Is it a good workout? Never flipped big tires before, seems like it would be a great thing for core strength and endurance.

Depends on the tire size...if it's for a small tractor...I.e. Ford 3400....14.9*24. It will weigh around 175# or so.

We used to do these as part of our weight training for high school football. The tires were only around 250lb but that's heavy enough because of the awkward shape of the tires. Doing this will develop some explosion in your hips.

Just get the specifications of the tire. Size, type, and if it is steel belted etc. Some smaller tires can end up weighing a lot more than larger ones. I got my three tires for free. Then I took the info off the side and called up a distributor and he kindly gave me the info I wanted, he even knew why I was asking the weight of the tire. I have a 530 lb tire and a 720 lb tire, and a little one might be 200 lbs not sure on it though. The 530 is the only one at my house, I'm probably to a point I could finally use the 720 for reps, but I left it on one of my father's properties in another state.

Hardest part would be hauling them, but people are glad to give them away, they even used a fork lift and loaded them for me.

    I can see it now............

........you get the tractor tire, flip it a few times, and then it'll sit in the yard for years with weeds growing all throughout it?

Pretty much, I mainly use mine in summer time. And even then it depends on my goals at that given time. Winter I can't use it anyways. I also have a sledge hammer i beat the thing with between tire flips, good all around work out. But honestly with a tire that heavy it gets in the way with recovery of other things, so really it ends up being what are my goals. Sadly though I don't know if having a big huge tire next to your house is all that appealing when you only use it a handful of times a year.

Each tire is diff, I have 2.

One is a giant thick monster truck type tractor tire, the other is a skinny john deer type, the skinny one weighs more, but the thicker one is harder to flip.

So it depends, weight is only one factor in flipping.

I got both free from a recycling center.

    sledge hammer?

    tractor tires?

if you want old school, why don't you do something productive and maybe chop wood or something?

Do your neighbors have to look at that old tire all year?

If you only saw my street you wouldn't feel bad about a tire on the side of my house. My house is the best looking one with the least amount of visible and non visible clutter.

Chopping wood would be about the same, but my camping wood pile is already chopped and too big, and I don't have a fireplace. I suppose I could do some charity and chop would for other people, always someone with wood, but then that would just take too long, when normally I'll do 5 sets of flips and swings without rest which takes no time at all. Not to mention with wood chopping you have to set your log back up, and aim etc, beating the tire you can do fast and extremely hard.

And they are earth mover tires.

Or be like Arnold in the movie commando

And carry logs on ur shoulder, literally,,

Chop wood and flip over telephone booths.

To get some delt action going, dangle a guy over a cliff like a straight arm raise.

And to get the back muscles working, row to an isolated island hah
