Another thing to consider is glycogen stores. After essentially fasting through the night the body will be using much of what you feed it in the first and even second meal just getting the whole system functioning let alone refueling glycogen stores.

To push through a serious workout with intention to grow ( I assume) we don't want to rely mainly on fat metabolism.
