Triceps/chest. Great mass builder.

dips are primarily triceps but if u lean forward it will hit lower chest area as well. but definately good size builder.

Think of your tricep just like your quad. They are both made up of three seperate muscles(also bicep could be compared to ham in that repect)
Squats are the mass builder for your quads. Dips, comparitively the same movment, are the "squats" for triceps

Plus when you strap on the belt with the chain and a couple of 45 plates, all the chicks at the gym stare at you while you're doing your set. At least at my gym, because I'm the only one who ever does them probably.

If you keep your elbows close to your body, then you'll work your triceps more... if you keep a wide grip or elbows out, then you'll hit the chest more.
I tend to do them at the end of my tricep workout and it really kicks the crap out of them

I always do weighted dips on my chest day. I do sets with 50 to 60Lbs, and after I am done, my chest is burning like crazy. I have also found that doing a lot of dips helped to increace my bench.

One time i did 8 sets of dips for my chest/triceps work out, no other work was done. My whole chest was sore as hell for like 5 days and my triceps were sore for like 7-8 days, I could barely extend my arms for several days ^_^

In my expierience, in respect to chest and tricep developement, weighted dips are superior to bench movements.

LOVE them. Probably my single favorite exercise. once in a while i'll throw this in for a chest/tri shock, away from my normal press/ Ipress/Dumbellflies/cableflies/tripress/triext workout
7 sets weighted dips
increasing weight till i can only do 6 for set number 7, where i drop to body weight and go for as many as i can. Next i'll move to close grip bench, hit the pec deck hard and do some cable fly supersets. Just something to keep the muscles confused.

Dips hit more than just chest and triceps. Look here.
