i think as long as its no nudity then they are fine, i dont have a prob with seeing girls in thongs, i dont see it as an issue, censorship will continue till we all have one username collectivly if we keep controlling everyting, i dont see how an avatar is a prob long as its not nude, either way it isnt up to me so

Everything has the potential to offend somebody. That thread about hunting ferrets might have bothered a vegan...I guess my point is that this is the internet and not real life. ITs a board that anyone can up for and push the limits. There are alot of weird individuals in society, and the anonomity of the internet is definetely not the arena to try to police those type of individuals. In real life I would be the first to stop someone if i thought they were sayign something offensive...but the internet is a completely different story. Yes it would be nice for folk to apply real life people skills on this boardand not lye about pics or other sh it but I don't think scolding them oin this board is gonna help the underlying issue of why a 35 year old virgin who lives with his moms feel the need to put a female of a thong in his avatar.

I am in the same boat as BOUNCER. My kids come by the computer and see those pics??? My wife also assumed I was getting advise and messages from the women in the avatars. This place is awesome...the "adult" avatars is the only thing I would change.

maybe they have a plugin taht you can download from vbulletin that allows you to block everyones avatars? I dont like having to read AR in public when there are men and nakid girls all over, so if we could just have an option to show all avatars/hide all avatars, it would make it alot easier? yaah

I believe there is an option for this in your user control panel settings. But if not, you can have your browser ignore pics. For instance if you are using Internet Explorer for your web browser, pull down the TOOLS menu. Click the INTERNET OPTIONS item and then a dialog pops up. Click the ADVANCED tab. Scroll down to the MULTIMEDIA section. Uncheck the SHOW PICTURES item. Close, close your browser, then restart it. Pics should not show, including avatars on the forums. You will instead see a little blank box where the pics would be. You can click it if you want to see the pic after all or just go back into the menu and re-check "SHOW PICTURES".
