Considered Strong?
I am just wondering when many of you would consider someone strong in the following lifts:
Clean
Snatch
Deads
Squats
Bench
Now, I don't mean elite level strong, but above average strong. I know the answer will probably be different for each lift, and you can list your answer in terms of bodyweight. For instance, in weightlifting a double bodyweight clean is considered extremely good. So what would be similar comparisons for the others?
Here are my thoughts, to get it started:
Clean - 1.5 x bodyweight
Snatch - 1.25 x bodyweight
Deads - 3 x bodyweight
Squats - 2.5 x bodyweight
Bench - 1.75 x bodyweight
Anyone else?

For above average-
clean-1.25
snatch-1
deads-2
squat-2
bench-1.5

Strong Bench- 400-450
Really Strong- 450-510
Super Strong- 510-600
Superhuman Strong- 600-700
(all shirtless and without back more than an inch or two off bench)

Squat- anything in the 450-600 range for reps depending on how often you work legs

Deadlifts- anything in the 550-650 range is excellent

oh...i mean these are ideal lifts for Bodybuilders, not fitness buffs or other athlethes
for a baseball or football player weighing 220, a 350 bench is excellent

I don't think you can just say a weight is a strong lift. If lifter A weighs 150 and lifter B weighs 350, then a 400lb bench is a huge difference in strength between the two. That is why I asked in relation to bodyweight since I think this is a better measure of how strong you are.

i'm speaking in generalities to a group of primarily bodybuilders/powerlifters, sorry- 2 x bodyweight is always an awesome achievement for anyone in the bench, and 2.5 x bodyweight in the squat

My personal goals do not include 1 rep maxes right now...i just want a 365 x4 bench and 19.25" biceps @ 206 pound body w/ a 32"waist

you, personally at a lean 175 should be able to bench 325-360 squat 400+ and deadlift 400+

if you have a large build, that is

Dude, I can't respond to your posts, can't you keep them all in the same one? LOL. Anyways, what the heck do you mean by a large build? 175 is 175, isn't it?

Maybe i am a realist but at any weight being able to lift over 2 times your bodyweight is quite the achievement. at 175 squating 400+ is well in excess of 2.25 of that body weight and a 360 bench is over 2 times that body weight. So yeah i would have to say thats quite strong! Anyway i always thought a good measure of being strong is being able to rep a certain weight. Maybe like 1.25-1.75 of bodyweight for 6-8 reps depending on the lift.

have you seen a short guy who weighs 175 next to a tall guy? you can see that the shorter guy appears to be much wider and more muscular if he is lean

All that ever does is get you hurt. I work out with the max I can, all the time, but pushing the envelope just does bad things.
I can tell you that I cant Clean - 1.5x,Snatch - 1.25x, Deadlift - 2x Squats - 2.5x or Bench - 1.75 x my 291 lbs (as of this morning). Im a big boy, but it looks like i got alot of practice to do if im gonna be strong..
