I counted 7 plates (20kg/45lbs) but that last plate might have been just a half plate (10kg). So it's between 280kg/616lbs. and 300kg/660lbs.

I thought he looked much bigger in the strongest man competitions.

Don't get me wrong - still very strong and a rare man, just thought he seemed smaller than I remembered.

He wasn't as cut as he usually is; usually the leaner a person is the bigger they'll look

    -----

strength training is primarily using heavy resistance,
not too many repetitions. endurance training is using
less weight/resistance with a lot of repetitions to get
the body used to heavy exertion. today in my training
    I'll do 10, tomorrow I'll do 12, then say to 20 or 30
    repetitions.

    -----

warming up is the most important thing in every sport,
anyone that practices a certain sport knows what it
means to have a good warm up routine. if someone doesn't
use it then they'll be disappointed to get pulled muscles,
    contusions, strains.

    -----

in this sport strength training is primary, swimming
aids in recovery, running, jumping rope, are all required.
you can't just strength train to have a huge pumped up
guy weighing 130-140kg. he's gotta be flexible, in
    good cardiovascular condition.

of course, training styles are completely different. Big Ron is bigger obviously tho..cuz he trains for hypertrophy. He is damn huge tho as a powerlifter and cut the hell up too

Depends on your definition of stronger. As far as straight weight lifting Ronnie is stronger for sure. As far as practical strength and athleticism is concerning MP is simply on a different level than Ronnie. I would honestly say that if they competed in a powerlifting comp then Ronnie would win. If they competed in a WSM-type event Ronnie would end up in last place.

I definitely think that as far as weightlifting goes Ronnie is stronger. Mariusz has a much higher level of muscular endurance, otherwise he wouldn't perform as well as he does in the WSM. He doesn't train for straight strength which I think gives the advantage to Ronnie, as far as max poundages are concerned.

Ronnie is a former powerlifter and he seems to do alot of low rep work nowdays aswell. Just look at his videos and what he squat and deadlift.

Mariuz isnt the strongest strongman by far. But he is good at everything that is why he wins. But when it comes to raw strenght Zavickas put Mariuz to shame. Mariuz is still my favorite strongman though

Haha! That reminds me. I saw a WSM one year and Mariusz (barely) came in second. He was kinda pissed about it, you could tell, so he made the other two competitors in the top three take off their shirts. He then compared his defined abs to their guts and kinda made jokes about the winner!

You could tell he was pissed.

hahaha thats pretty funny. Funny how some guy a lot lighter than all the others and looks like a bb (sorta) always beats guys 50-100lbs heavier than him.
