I dick around with car electronics and I am going to school for networking to get some overpriced certs. I guess my main skill set is being able to remote start just about anything with a motor, relays and troubleshooting.

My how things have changed since this comment was made, huh Sus? The advantage of being in medicine is that it is somewhat insulated from large economic downturns, although not insulated from jerkoff politicians who want to pay physicians who endured 8 years of school the likes of teachers and other government employees...

Real estate is still doing great, contrary to popular belief. People who are one-trick ponies, or work for big comapnies, will obviously not agree with me. However, people like myself, who either work for themselves, or small brokerages, and know how to do both the lending side of real estate, and the buying and selling side, are actually doing pretty well...or should be! Refinances have slowed down so much because of our shitty market/economy, and if all I knew how to do was refinances, I'd be broke, jobless, and weigh less than a buck fifty. The purchase real estate market is booming because of all the foreclosures and shortsales. People are getting great deals on homes, and are buying like there's no tomorrow. I thank god for the opportunity to be in this line of business.
I am, of course, speaking exclusively about the market in California. Other places could be different.

To be honest though teachers are one of the groups that really deserves a raise in salary. High school teachers over here have atleast 4 years of university education behind them. Of course the education for teachers teaching arts and the social science is a joke, but the hard sciences and maths teachers have a very rigours education.

After high school I went to college for 3 years to peruse a degree in Accounting and continue school to get my MBA and had planned on going into the finance area.
I’ve never been a huge fan of school, or college. I’ve always found that they make you take and study courses that are not interesting to you or prudent to your field of work or passion. I enjoy the numbers, I enjoy seeing what “I can” make off a deal.
Eventually I gave up on school to pursue a career in real estate investing. That was the ultimate goal, the MBA was simply a way to fund it. I bought my first home about the same time everyone else did, when I was 22. I opted to buy a 4 unit complex, live in one and rent the others.
Since then, I’ve bought 5 more complexes, I’m on track to pay them off in 7 years.
3 years ago I started a construction company and that has worked very well for me as well. I’ve always had a nitch for getting in with people, and I am and do genuinely do love my work. I don’t have to “think” like a sales man to trick people into hiring me. I think that is why it has worked out for me so well.
