Looking to move soon, need some advice from all of you!

I'm tired of Chicago. I need a change, and I'm looking for places to move, preferably with better scenery and a more relaxed pace.

    My thoughts so far are

    Colorado
    Vancouver, Canada
    South Carolina
Somewhere in the mid-atlantic states (Connecticut, New Hampshire, etc)

Im looking for either skiing and mountains or near the ocean. I like lots of scenery, slower paced lifestyle, places where $$ isn't everything, good housing market, and most of all, nice people!

Any suggestions would be appreciated guys and girls! Let me know you like your city or how you like the ones above!

I go to school in South Carolina on the coast and I love it here. Today I wore t-shirt and shorts and was hot. If there would be a problem living here, it would have to be that it is expensive. But I also live downtown. If you could find a place on the surrounding islands it isn't nearly as bad. Let me know if you wanna know anything else!

FYI: The state of Arizona has the cheapest cost of living in the nation. But most likely some of the worst paying jobs due to that.

Nice! I was at the empress last weekend, dropped $300 in 30 mins

    Damn craps tables...

Chicago is a great city, but their is SO much corruption due to the welfare state the inner city has created. I want out.

Good so far, keep em coming all!

    Blue

What do you think a 2 bedroom townhome downtown and in the surrounding islands would run? How is the crime rate? job rate? Any ideas you could give me would be great!

You're always welcome here in the state of Texas. I live in Far North Dallas and it's an extremely rapid growing area. Very nice as well. With you being a loan officer, that would fit your niche quite nicely.

Check out some homes in towns such as Frisco, Prosper, McKinney, and Allen. The price per square foot is extremely attractive right now due to it being a buyers market in Far North Dallas.

Yeah my ex lost a few hundred in her own dad's casino, wtf? I still miss that girl we stayed at the hotel across the way. I thought it was cool the boats actually go up and down the river. I got to ride up front with the captain and got the vip treatment This was like 98? Her dad was cool.

Arizona is also one of the fastest growing states. I've been looking into the Scottsdale area myself because I'm a Realtor and I have friends there that love it.

I would suggest you need to provide more information..

I've grew up in NC, know SC and Ga

Spent 3 years in Co, 5 in ND, 5 in CA, and 14 in MN.. spent time in Tx, Ny, Tn, FL, Nv..

I would suggest we need to know your line of work, and hobby interest before making a suggestion..

    good luck.. change is good..

Very good! My hobbies include mostly skiing and nightlife. I love going out and meeting people, other than that Im easy to please.

Im a loan officer (mortgages), so booming housing market is kind of a must. What did you think of Colorado Spy??

loved it... it has 320 climate days a year, that means days you can go outside in nothing more than a light jacket at most..

night life was a little slower though...

just revisited friends of mine in cali.. won't move back there, that's where i got my start in Mortgage finance, and am starting my own mortgage co Jan 1... mostly non-conforming.. 125% with fica as low as 540...

anyway, you can ski in hawaii now, but the night life there is really slow..

cali would be the best for you given what you are telling me.. live on the outskirts, and instead of home mortgage do capital leasing, that's one of the other services we will be offering..

there's lots of ways to not get caught up in the madness of traffic...

if skiing is the #1 you can't beat Colorado, but... beware.. alot of military, alot of espanol, and alot of students north of denver..

    good luck..

Born and raised in Cali. Loved the weather, didn't like the direction the state was headed.

My grandparents lived in Kirkland, and then moved to Federal Way. My dad actually grew up in Bellevue right off Lake Washington. Very nice area! Tacoma stinks and it rains a lot though

Washington has a lot of fun stuff I'll give it that..space needle, museum of flight, puget sound, etc.

I was born the same day St Helens erupted! Maybe it's a sign to live there?

I was EXACTLY in the same position as you. I use to live in Detroit, and grew up there. I now live in McDonough, GA about 45 minutes south of Atlanta, and let me tell you, it's beautiful. Couldn't be happier. Housing is cheap, jobs are plentiful, and people are nice. Plus it's always sunny and 60 + degree's.

I don't regret moving here one bit. We've lived here now for over a month. We bought a house that would have cost $1.5 million in Detroit for $365K here. I got property, and the only complaint is Atlanta traffic. I live in McDonough, but I work in downtown Atlanta.

I like taking long walks on the beach, having tea with friends and talking about my feelings and sharing the same with that special person
