Afterwards my weights continued to go up (plateauing at 545 x 3).. but not as drastically as when i was cutting.

    hm.

I'm about 40 lbs heavier now than i was then.. but i can't say that i'm impressed with my lift.

Maybe i'd better start cutting again.
normal body weight, is about 205lbs . i have found that when i get larger my deadlift does not get better,
at 181, i did 600lbs in a contest raw, drug free than i did 650lbs at 198, now i am going to a contest wei***ng 220lbs on "gear" and i will be lucky to hit 600lbs this time.it doesnt make any sense to me.i have been consistent with my training, but my pull just sucks, my biomechanics and my form are all over the place, i think the added weight has thrown me out of my natural groove and it shows in my deadlift, now my press has gone through the roof since i got larger, i am opening with a 505lb press, which will be a personal best for myself, oh well... at least one lift isnt shitty

Yo doc, what pre contest training routine do you use. Hypothetically say your 12 weeks out. I use westsides stuff while I'm just cruising, then do some linear periodization work (ala strossen) to train for the meet. Not to hijack (sry)

west side never works for me, it kills my deadlift, so i try to stick w periodization of some type working up from 60% to 85 -90 % in smll 6 - 8 wk micro cycles, it used to work, not anymore

yeah when westside was new to me, and i was new to equipment it worked real well. Now it doesnt do much, just help me bridge periodization workouts. I need a change tho...oh well. What's ur totals doc? We are in the same weight class after all :-)

    raw at 181lbs-1500lbs
198lbs bench 450lbm/ dead 650lbs, havent done a full 3 lift meet equiped yet with the squat suit but i have been working with it and i will be im the the lower 700's

a low projected total for 198lbs would be 700 squat , 500 press, 600-625 dead
    a high projcted, 730, 550, 650

trust me, you can do the same weights, it takes practice and time, i am sure you are younger than me, i have also been doing this over 11years, so that gives me an advantage, be patient with it, and the gains will keep coming, also dont worry , i normaly dont compete at 220lbs, i usualy drop down to 198lbs

Yup. 21yrs old here. I tried cutting down for a local push/pull son light meet about a month ago, but i hit a wall @ 205 where I was carb depleted and losing strength. What sanction do you usually compete in? I go USAPL collegiates/junior men, but have been thinking about doing APF for some time now.

i used to do the drug free, ADFPA/usapl wnpf, aau, i have switched to APF and IPA meets and plan to never go back to the other sanctions, i want to wear double ply equipmant and i want fair judging , not USAPL ball busting rules and single ply. way to strict and they have alot of other rules that serve no purpose but screwing you out of good lifts that would count in any other federation.
