besides ps3 cant compete with xbox Live, their server is way too powerful. its comparable with PC gaming platforms.
From what I've been reading most game companies are no longer doing exclusives. They make more money doing both platforms. A lot of Xbox 360 games are coming to the PS3. As far as PS3 online gaming competing with Xbox Live give it time. The PS3 has been out 4-5 months? The 360 has been out a year and a half. Give Sony a year then judge.

Well I do see alot of companies giving up on exclusives games, Halo won't be one of them.... And you can't say the xbox360 is more expensive, I mean sure if you add a HD DVD drive and wireless, but I have cat5 in my house I don't need to pay extra for wifi. HD DVD is not blu-ray so don't group them together sure they both are Hi Def but blu-ray is going to win and I don't want to pay extra for something that no one will support in less then a year... So for me I choose xbox360 it has the best games, the best online play, and the best controller so I have blu-ray player for my movies and xbox360 for my games.... by the way Carlos did you watch the new bond film on blu-ray, I bought it a couple weeks back great movie my blu-ray collection is now up to 5 LOL....

blue-ray like bet-max will lose because history repeats itself and sony is repeating what doomed beta. they are imposing similar restrictions on blue-ray as they did with beta. that doesn not sit well with dvd manufacturers and movie companies.

Right now blu-ray is outselling HD DVD 3-1. Last month it was 4-1. Porn is doing blu-ray and porn decided the VHS / Beta max battle. Debbie Does Dallas just shipped on blu-ray. I think it's the first one.

What are you talking about? Samsung, Panasonic, Philips, sharp, LG, Pioneer, Lite-On, Mitsubishi, and sony all make blu-ray players... now LG, and toshiba are the only guys making HD DVD players... so the manufacturers have sided with blu-ray. Paramount, Warner Bros, Disney, Fox, Lions gate, MGM, and Sony Pictures support Blu-ray..... Paramount, Warner Bros,Weinstein Company, Universal Studios support HD-DVD... so the movie studios have sided with blu-ray. HD DVD can't win, they would need 4 movies studios to start making movies for their format... Blu-ray needs just one movie studio and the war is over...

windows and microsoft supports HD-DVD......if sony (lol) wants to go to war with microsoft and lose again im sure bill gates and company will ablidge.

    war over.

actually both can co-exist search for "total HD"....discs compatible with both formats.

yes I seen the "total HD discs" and only one movie studio is backing that and they are Warner Bros, and since Warner Bros backs both HD DVD and Blu-ray this changes nothing.... And Microsoft does support HD DVD but they don't have any money invested in it... they have said that if blu-ray wins they would be happy to have blu-ray external drives on the 360....

I agree, I don't care too much since I already have a blu-ray and wireless also. When it comes to the games and the online entertainment the 360 has an enormous edge and that's an understatement. Although I will say, give the PS3 some time. But all in all the 360 is my choice. By the time the PS3 comes around the 360 will have moved on to bigger and better things whether it's with a new console or even more features on the existing one.

There is no way I would pay 479 dollars for 100 gb more memory. But I hear they might have an add on for sale soon so I'm hoping that will be around 80-99 dollars.

The memory add on is right here:

    http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Micro...oductDetail.do

    And it's not $80-$99. It's $179. Yes, it's way over priced.

Well, depends on your tastes. I bought a PS3 instead of a Xbox because I felt I was getting more for my money. (Gaming system, Wifi, blu-ray player.) Also, the Xbox has been out for a year and a half and uses older tech. The PS3 is new and has newer tech and a lot of room for growth. If you're only going to use the XBox for gaming and you don't plan on buying the HD DVD add on piece get the Xbox. There are a lot more games out.

If you want a gaming system and the ability to watch high definition DVDs the PS3 is a better buy. For $20 more than the price of the Elite you're getting a blu-ray DVD player. To watch HD DVDs on the Xbox will cost you an additional $199. ($479 XBox Elite + $199 External HD DVD player.) Something for you to consider.

No idea, but I don't have the $140 to get it fixed. I'm thinking it over heated because a roommate of mine liked to use it ALL day long and leave it on through the night after using it for hours on end.

My DLP big screen also burned out from excessive usage, and I have to pay $250 to get a new bulb.

Red rings of death? I heard over heating and the red ring error is very common.

That is why I keep everything in my bedroom. HD cable, 40" HD LCD, HD Tivo and PS3 all in my bedroom. Pretty much all of the content I watch is in HD including cartoons. As I upgrade I move my older stuff to the living room for them to use. Upconverting DVD player, Tivo series 2 and so on.

Although I'm a 360 fan, I don't recommend buying the Elite. This is nothing but a publicity stunt from Microsoft, to mirror the launch of the ps3 overseas. If you want the larger hard drive(which most wont need that much space) or the HDMI (most don't need that either) then wait for summer. Microsoft will replace the current 'Premium' with a white 'elite'. There are no plans to make any accessories in black other than the ones bundled with the current 'Elite'. I really don't know what Microsoft was thinking, should of made it white in the first place.

Now, onto the BR and HD-DVD, More movie studios are signing onto HD-DVD, because they can put both formats on one disc, DVD and HD-DVD. That could be the final nail in Sony's coffin.

this is exactly the point i was about to make. The graphical difference will be negligible and sony wont have the exclusives to make it a better buy over the system that plays halo and gears

I think the difference is you compare the two as a gaming platform only. Sony did not design the PS3 to only use for gaming. I look at it more as an entertainment device. I look at the total features per dollar and the PS3 offers more for the same price point.

No! The only movie studios that was doing Combo was Universal but now they are droping it... see link http://hddvd.highdefdigest.com/news/...d_Reissues/553

And you said the support list was out of date I went back and checked up on it and it is up to date.... I don't see how HD DVD can win!
    Blu-ray has 7 of the 9 studios....
HD DVD has 4 of the 9 studios....

I'm confused about the bold. If Blu-ray had 7 of 9 shouldn't HD DVD have the remaining 2 of 9?

    7 + 4 = 11
    7 + 4 does not equal 9

Although I have not been in the first grade for a while so my math might be off so bear with me lol.

Anyways just kidding, is this because some of the studios use both?

You're right. That doesn't add up.
    9 Studios
    5 Exclusive Blu-ray
    2 Exclusive HD DVD
    2 Releasing both formats

    How doesn't it add up?
    5 Exclusive to Blu-ray + 2 Releasing both formats = 7
    2 Exclusive to HD DVD + 2 Releasing both formats = 4
so you see there are 9 studios
    Blu-ray has 7
    HD DVD has 4
