Father died this morning
He was 74 years old. He smoked from age 13 to 60. His last 14 years here on earth were miserable. He had advanced ephysema and could not walk more than a few feet without getting winded.
He was a rancher, farmer, U.S.Marine, father, husband, friend and a rowdy son of a bitch in his day. He wasn't much for showing feelings and really had no use for religion.
I'm gonna miss him

Thoughts are with ya, man. Losing someone isnt easy.

Sorry to hear of your loss. My ol' man is a German farm kid whose younger days also led him enlisted into the military. He has been smoking Pall Malls since he was a kid on the farm. He loves his Johnny Walker too. Miraculously he does not have any [known] cancer or serious health issues.
Though his health hasn't slipped beneath him, I worry about the day the effects of the booze and cigs will get the nest of him. It's sad 'cause in my eyes, he has really became the family man his kids needed in the last few years... very dedicated to his kids and humble in his later years...

I'm sorry for your loss. At least he's free from the awful afflictions that plagued him and destroyed his quality of life during his later years.

IMO, that would be a perfect eulogy. Short and sweet and to the point. Bummer, Bro. My condolences for your grief. Dedicate your next few visits to the gym and you should get a killer workout and it will help out with your pain and suffering in his loss. I did the same when my step-mom died of cancer a few years back and it really helps.

There is nothing more important to the making of a man than dad. Sorry for your loss, we thank him for his service to our country and show your kids the same amount of love that you feel for your dad.
