    My pits

Here's some pics that I took of my blood thirsty vicious Pit attacking my wife and I. Notice the crazed look in his eye. Oh the humanity!! No but seriously. My dog has got to be the most loving attention whore of a dog ever. He's so smart and affectionate with a great personality. He loves my daughter and her friends. He always wants to meet kids at the park and at times he can also be downright comical. He's been a great addition to the family and I love him like a son. Just don't tickle his paws or try and give him a bath.

as regards to the opening statement it is unfortunate for sensible dog owners that irresponsible people get hold of these breeds.

i mean every f##kin cap wearing scally has these dogs as they are scared to f##k of gettin there asses kicked,it affords them the opportunity to talk shit to people and get away with it.

i just think that dogs that can cause serious damage to an adult(kids aside)should wear a muzzle that way the owner gets to keep that breed of dog and the public are safe.the old "hes never bitten anyone before" statement dont hold much weight when your daugters face is hangin off.

jersey omg how can you let him attack her, lol, helium i respect what your saying however a person thats responsible will know long before he bites your daughter if thats his intentions and if i thought mine would id kill him myself but id have to fight the wife and daughter to do it. the worst thing he has ever done is when hes tired of her pulling his ears and stuff when she would turn and run hed cut her legs out and she would giggle for about 10 minutes

My next door neighbor had a Russell but he went out and bought a Cane Corso too. I've researched them and I tried to warn him about possible temper issues. I used to hear them going at it in the backyard and the little Russell would hold her own until one day the Corso tore her throat out. He put down the Corso and 2 weeks later comes home with a Collie.
Mojo humps the bejesus out of my female Lab but when she's tired of it she lets him know it. Whenever they rumble he always comes out bleeding. She's way more dangerous than he is especially when I try and cut her nails.

His ears are cropped and he's short and stocky. Plus he's a blue. very desireable. It's all in the breeding. I rescued mojo from a kill shelter at 10 weeks old so I really didn't have any idea of what he would look like. He looks more like a race dog than your typical menacing Pitbull. Afrer all people have different body types. So do dogs.

When I got Mojo his papers from the shelter said Amstaff. Unless you are buying from a reputable breeder and know the bloodline you really aren't going to know for sure. I wasn't looking for an AKC show dog. I tell people he's an Amstaff. It sounds better to most people than Pit or Pitbull and puts them a little more at ease.

He's about 22 inches at the shoulder. I did show him to a breeder who was very impressed with his muscle tone and stance. He has very good posture.

Yes there are diff types, it all depends on the bloodline. Alot of selective breeding has gone into the more famous bloodlines i.e. brodreaux, eli, jeep, stephany to name a few. The shorty stockier look is perfered for ring sports. The average male's ideal weight should be around 50-55 lbs, Tank weighs 67 lbs but he has a large frame. He is very quiet doesn't bark alot, pitbulls strive to please their owners. So if they get the vibe you dont like something they do they will usually fix it. They are very protective of family, my wife is staying with my family right now because I'm deployed. My parents have a golden retrevier who is four years old and always pulls the alpha male crap on Tank. Well they were fighting in the backyard and my wife went outside to see what was going on. Tank was laying on his back being submissive she got scared and thought something was wrong. He picked up on her being scared, hopped right up tackled my parent's dog locked down on his neck. My wife had to beat him with a broom stick to get him to let go. Their retrevier got 12 staples in his neck, he's fine now but doesn't pull the alpha dog shit anymore. So they are alot smarter than most people think, they pick up on body language so be careful.

No shit they're smart. Mojo is problem solving smart. Loves to close doors. He can open the slider but hasn't figured out how to turn door knobs yet so he keeps locking himself in the bathroom. He's about 65 pounds and only barks when someone comes to the house. For some reason he gets upset when I leave for work in the morning and comes over and gives me a little chomp on the hand. He's so attached. Then he'll grab one of my shoes or some article of clothing and sleep with it on the couch til I get home. He used to be very destructive chewing up everything but now he knows what it's like when I get mad so he's stopped that. He is a little houdini though. He was digging under the fence and escaping for awhile. I lined the fence with cinder blocks but he learned how to move those too. Then I caught him climbing the fence. looked out the window and there he is hanging from the top of my 6 foot shadow board looking into the neighbors yard. He found it easier to just jump up on the doghouse though and then over the fence. A friend of mine came over the house one night so I put the dogs out. Mojo opened the gate and came to the front door and pawed at it to be let in so he could see who was here. We were looking at each other wondering who the hell was at the door, opened it up and in runs the dog.

Does your dog grab your arm when he wants attention? Mojo will sit next to me and constantly grab my arm with his paw and drag it over to him cause he wants to be pet.

Must be a Pitbull thing. You see from the pics the way Mojo is. When he was a puppy he would lay on his back between the wife and I in bed at night with his head up on the pillow. The wife swears he thinks he's human.

I am misfortunate enough to live in the dirty south and I am sorry to say but there are plenty of cute and cuddly dogs in the world that are not bread to be "vicious killers" that would make sufficient pets/companions. Pitbulls seems to be misabused by lowlives everywhere and this sh*t has got stop. I am simply tired of it. Cockfighting is onething, but pretty much everybody eats chicken as they have little brains and only dogs are eaten by 4th world Southeast Asian countries. Anyways, who needs a ****ing dog to justify their manhood anyways? If your a true playboy you could pick bitches up with a chihuahua!!!
Ok im going to have to say this is the dumbest, most close minded thing ive seen in the last week. Thats such a stereotypical thing to say and is just as bad as parroting information. Pitbulls were bread to kill... Blood hounds were bread to hunt, and poodles were bread to be dressed up and be given goofy hair cuts lol. Live with it. And just because there are many places in poverty that have these dogs, doesnt mean they have them for fighting. Yes there are still dog fighting rings ran to date and the pitbull is usually the contendor. But what are trying to get at with this? The pitbull breed is also a serious money maker for breeds. Where my parents live in NY theres a pitbull breeder who charges 5 grand for his pups. And people buy them. The pitbull is also a symbol of power and strength. Its like owning a heavy duty pick up or a muscle car.

Thats like saying hunting is a redneck sport and not all people who hunt are rednecks. Although I dont condone hunting and could not kill an animal myself, I dont say the people who do it are low lives.

Not a bad point on this one but feel me out. Rednecks do hunt and it is thier preffered hobby, so one could assume that hunting is the official sport of rednecks. Much like Budweiser is the official brew of the St. Louis Cardinals but not everybody who drinks Budweiser is a Cardinals fan. All I said is that from where I sit and this seems to be fairly universal is that Pitbulls are the official dogs of lowlives-sort of like the state animal of Douchebagville, if you will.

I know what type of people your talking about. I used to work right down the road from the projects and these thug, gang banger, wanna be' kids would walk around with these poor Pits with giant chains around there knecks for collars trying to look tough with their pants hanging around their asses. There is a whole other group of responsible dog owners that truly appreciate the breed for it's personality, loyalty, affection and willingness to please their owners. I by no means agree with the "official dog of low-lives" everywhere comment. I can only imagine what stereotypes you have for people.

Exactly. I am generally open-minded with stereotypes and people from all walks of life, however, like it or not and right or wrong, stereotypes exist for a reason. I am simply a little jaded with the Pitbull issue and decided to vent/rant. Anyways, I am not kissing your a s s looking for reprieve but I really dug the pictures you posted of your family hanging out on the couch. The brendal pit is truly a magnificent looking creature. I mean that, that is one beautiful dog. However, and this is truly sad, but that is not the image that comes to the mind of the general public when pitbulls are mentioned. Rather it is the image you described in your post and that of violent attacks, fighting and rampant abuse.

Can't argue with you there. But that's exactly the kind of thinking that gets Pits banned and loving family pets taken from there families and euthanized. It's mostly the medias fault jumping on the bandwagon sensationalizing every attack involving a dog that look like a Pit. You don't hear about other breeds cause no one wants to read about it. We knew a family that had a Dalmation since it was a pup. One day the dog just snapped and bit their sons ear lobe off. I'll bet that didn't make the front page.

Michael Vick should be thrown in the ring with a trained fighter, and forced to fight, like he did with his dogs. If he's killed, he should be buried in someone's back yard. Let's be honest..if he's hurt too bad to keep playing football, he should be put to sleep, like they do to the dogs who are too hurt to continue fighting. I don't see treating scumbag dog owners any differently than they treated their dog.

I see these dogs being abused everyday where i work. I work in a bad part of the city and when i go into alleys and such i see about 50 percent of these dogs walking about the backyard with weights chained to their necks. Some might ask why but most know they are being trained for fighting. Its an ego thing.

So they are alot smarter than most people think, they pick up on body language so be careful.

Thats exactly why pits shouldnt be attacked trained. Your wife should of never been able to beat him off with a broom stick. It takes alot more than that to get them to let go.

BTW this isnt a slam on ya, just my OP.. I have about 20+ years dealing with pits.

I swear to you if I saw that I would take the dog. I've done it before. I was on my way to work and I saw a female running across the street. She had a collar on so I pulled over and jumped out. She was so sweet she came right over to me wagging her tail. She was ematiated so I thought she was a stray. Right then some fat ghetto bitch comes out of the house yelling "hey that's my dog". So I pick up the dog and carry her over to the house. I asked her if the dog was sick cause she was so skinny. She says no my brother is supposed to feed her but he never does. I looked right at her and said "oh really. Guess what, it's my dog now." I take the dog back to my car while Sha Ne Ne is screaming about how she's gonna call the cops. I told her to go right ahead and I'll be pressing charges for animal abuse. I couldn't bring the dog home cause Mojo hates other dogs so I just dropped her off at the shelter and made sure they would call me if they needed help taking care of her with food or anything. I checked back every day until they found a home for her. I guess the bitches brother didn't care enough to come looking for his dog. I am very much a dog lover.
