a rotwhiler killed a 1 year old kid(the child of its owner) about 45 minutes from her a couple days ago..obviously it comes down to the owner for the most part...but there arent any rules that govern the safety of owning a dog that kills either..thats the biggest problem imo.

ROFLMAO!!! I thought we weren't going to press stereotypes here or maybe "Sha Ne Ne" was her real name. But's cool you did that. It sounds like an episode of "Animal Cops".

There are a few problems with me doing that. One being that most drug dealers fight these dogs and any attempt to take their dogs would sure enough have a few bullets coming my way. Second even if i called the cops they have so many other things to worry about then dogs being abused. I know its ashame but the crime rate is too high for cops to worry about dogs fights right now.

I hear what your saying. The site of those dogs being abused would haunt me though. I would have to try to get some animal rights group involved or something.

That's really sad bro. Goes to show how fearless the breed is. Strange though. Who the hell was the guy with the camera and why didn't the dogs go after him?

Amen to that post. There has been a few threads lately on pits on here. I just got mine about 3 months ago. I actually didn't pick him out, a neighbor in the cul de sac was moving and didn't want to take him. I got the 1 1/2 year old blue for free. In all honesty, I started hearing horror stories from coworkers about pitbulls and was starting to get paranoid. So far he's been very friendly and well socialized with people and other dogs. He's very affectionate really wants to please me- which makes him very easy to train. I've talked to breeders and trainers and they've all pretty much said the same thing- their behavior depends on the way they were raised.

Amen to that. I hate the fact that someone stood there and filmed/photographed that shit but on the other hand it show how fearless those animals are, I mean the general rule of virtually all animals in the wild is, "if it's bigger then you, you leave it the **** alone"

i just think that dogs that can cause serious damage to an adult(kids aside)should wear a muzzle that way the owner gets to keep that breed of dog and the public are safe.the old "hes never bitten anyone before" statement dont hold much weight when your daugters face is hangin off.
agreed, this is the most sensible post so far,if ur gonna have a doggie that can do damage then act responsibly with it,those who dont r the douchebags lpicken is talking about,no one knows 100% whats going thru a dogs mind not even the owner, ppl have secrets and surpress aspects of thier personalities so why not doggies

My sister has 3 pitbulls. Two of them are a bit of a pain in the ass, but the first one she got (chopper) is just the cuties and the awesome dog i have ever meet. He is so kind and he listens well. I love that dog.

If it hasnt been said (probably has been). Its not the dogs fault how they were raised.

fearless or stupid, who would fight something 20 x bigger than themselves and keep doing it till it killed them, there mustve been a point when doggie couldve said to himself 'hmmm im not winning here time to scarper'

Your kidding about no such thing as a bad pit!!! As a past breeder of show dogs I can tell you that Ruby, my son's pit that lives with us is so so so bad.
Raised in a loving home she has eaten all the woodwork in the house, the metal sliding glass door, her crate and then her wire crate she bent it in two just so she could get out. Anytime she is locked in or out of somewhere she will do whatever it takes to get out. I can't take her to the vet because she would kill any dog that walks past her, and even my two grown sons have trouble holding her back with a prong collar.
I sent her to be trained $2000 she came back with a shock collar and I was warned never take her out for a walk and I don't even leave her in my fenced yard because if she hears the neighbors dog she shoves her body at the fence or digs quicker then a bulldozer, to kill it.
How did she get this way? What did I do to her? She is only 4 and I pray she dies young.

There are for sure bad dogs but each breed has them.... maybe you should put her to sleep before she hurts someone

I have 3 points to make.

    1) my great aunt (this is in the 50's) lost her eye, trying to pull HER pitbull off of the neighbor it was almost done decapitating, and being an old lady, she didnt mistreat the dog or train it to attack. The woman died of course, and they got sued for everything they owned, and lost their car dealership.

    2) However, Rachel Ray has a pit-bull and I would totally shank her

and 3) these dogs will kick all of your dogs ass's

What the hell is that?! A doggie Conga Line? No offense bro but an old lady has no business owning a powerful dog like a Pit. There are responsibilities that come with this breed and being able to control your dog is one of them. Mojo is always on a full harness when we go out so there is no way for him to pull away from me.

ok if the person cant handle a big dog they shouldnt have it, also nfw that was the first indication that dog had issues you know way ahead of time also............. i would be hesitant to take any animal that is as loyal as a pitbull, german shepard rottweiler, those type of dogs unless i raised her because you dont know what some other scumbag did to them..... lastly if i had no children and a adult pitbull or a dog that has never been around children id be careful because when you do have a kid they are replacing that dog as your baby and you have to have raised them right ..................... my daughter was 3 when we got tazz and all he has ever known is being pulled on she bit him once being ridden and he has a understanding of who to play rough with.. not her he doesnt play with her the way he does me

Mojo was also very destructive when he was younger. He was an escape artist too. I was very lucky he didn't find any other dogs the couple times he did get out. My next door neighbor brings home his K9 police dog and Mojo tries his damndest to get through the fence. I'd hate to think about what would happen if he maimed or killed a police dog.

What happens when you get asshole ignorant owners of dogs like these.

The sad thing is, what can you do with that dog now? It most probably was destroyed.

On a lighter note, the below link is about some facts about the breed. Interesting read.

Yes. Thank you. My now dead, one eyed Great-Aunt is an asshole. So when you are taking pictures of your kid with your pitbull and it snaps, will you be an asshole? Or was it the dog snapping and you had no control, which is why I dont like those dogs period. Sorry everyone. It wasn't an aggressive dog if you would have asked her. Its cool though. I dont judge.

My dogs from the conga line have gotten me so much ***** its ridiculous. You dont know how many girls and hot neighbors have stopped by to see the puppies (I had 2 litters).

Is that in reply to my post? If it is, then you misunderstood me cause I was trynna outline what happens to these dogs when they are in the wrong hands. Not everyone that owns these dogs are like that.

i do know what im talking about thank u very much if u think i dont then u have attempted to "read my mind" after right after saying "anymore than u can a persons" and i didnt say "your" dogs r gonna snap,i agree u can make an educated guess about ur dogs intentions just like u can a persons but u cant know for certain and if u think u know 100% then u r allowing ur emotions for ur animals to cloud ur judgement

Dogs like this do need discipline as much as they do affection. They also need a definite alpha owner, or they will be hard to control.

Thanks Jersey. I will keep him socialized.
