prior tempore potior iure ???
does any1 know what this translates too? I saw it on a car and couldn't figure out what the hell it meant.

Prior in tempore, potior in iure is a Latin expression, that can be translated like "First in the time, better in the Right", that makes reference to a principle of Right, by virtue of as, in the case of existing controversy between parts that allege equal rights on a thing (example: a mortgage to its favor) is understood that the part has the preference in the right that has constituted it first. "earlier in time, stronger in law" A legal principle that older laws take precedent over newer ones. Another name for this principle is lex posterior.
