I am reminded of a story I read not that long ago about a little boy who was weightlifting and already had cultivated the appearance of a bodybuilder at a ridiculously young age. He was even featured in a Boost Mobile advertisement recently with Travis Barker of the band Blink-182. Meet Richard Sandrak, “World’s Strongest Boy” or “Little Hercules.” Naturally, Richard’s Dad is a former bodybuilder and his Mom is an aerobics instructor. Richard the Ripped had strong muscle definition by age 6: despite the repeat warnings from pediatricians and pediatric orthopods who advise no serious body building until after puberty. And now at age 14, he is starring in his own film “Little Hercules 3D” as well as a similarly titled workout video series for kids.

At the age of eight, Richard was able to bench 210 pounds at the body weight of 70 pounds. And, how could he do this Herculean feat? Naturally, his father, an overzealous weightlifter, constructed a very strict regimen for his son that consisted only of liquid nutrients, vegetables and what has been alleged to be anabolic steroids . Eventually, Richard’s father was arrested and put in jail for assaulting Richard’s mother. Richard still maintains his physique but not at quite the same “level” at which it was under his father’s supervision. Yet, out of all of this obvious trauma, Richard continues to body build and use his looks as a catalyst for a Hollywood career.
