Texas???
I've been offered a job in Dallas doing the same thing im doing now. I know there person who owns the company and is a great person to work for. Pay is pretty much what i'm making now possibly more. But its Texas so that pay will go alot farther. I'm not sure what to do. They are flying me out there for a few days to check it out.

I personally hate Texas
weather sux, humid as a mother (walk outside and just start sweating..eeeww), and its slowly becoming North Mexico
this is speaking from a Houston standpoint obviously. also, no cool water spots (galveston is a shithole), no mountains, no nothing.

The weather is constantly changing in Texas. I've talked to some cousins that lived in CA and they hate it.

I hate the cold i think i could deal with the heat. No beach will suck.
I'm assuming Dallas would have a decent night life?
I've been looking online for apartments. The are soem really nice 1 bed room for around $600. Are they really that cheap?

let me tell u what i think. i've moved around a lot in this great country and one thing i've notice is the further south u move, the more stupid and uglier the people become, no offense to anyone. i stay in the north/midwest. i never been to tx personally though

Dallas or Austin. South Austin is a sh*t hole, you may as well be in Mexico. I swear there was a Mexican bum with a cowboy hat panhandling at every other corner. Dallas is the place to be for night life, women, and football, although I hate the Cowboys. Unless of course you had San Antonio as a choice, my favorite place to ever have spent time.

Well, I live in houston, been to austin
I would say Austin over Houston anyday

Dallas is cool, but I like Austin much better. You can rent or buy place out there for so cheap, compared to here!!! You know how it is, you get a hole in the wall box for 600,000 here in NYC!!! One thing I can tell you from living in different city's is after awhile you miss NY. You miss the cold during holidays, you miss the deli's,pizza, bagels, the rudeness of people for some reason, and just the overall excitement NYC brings. That being said some people go and never look back, so I guess it's a personal preference. One plus about texas as a whole is that the woman there are what most men strive for when looking for a wife. They are good wholesome girls, that will cook, clean, work, take care of the kids, and do back flips all at the same time!!!!!

Austin is definitely the best but the cost of living is the highest. Dallas and Houston are both neat, I like Houston better but i am bias (grew up in katy) but dallas would definitely not be a bad city to live and work in. lots of things to do in all three.

I dont know bro...I consider our area the center of the world...Wouldn't want to leave it... 45mins to NJ,DE,PA,Maryland.... 45mins to the jersey shore... 15-45min from two big ass citys with tons of shit to do, and many more opportunities for higher pay than the South.

That's what I'm going to miss.
The higher pay is right but they are giving me guarantee of my NYC pay in Dallas. I could possibly make more.
Just looking online. i can rent a nicer apartment then i have now and save $900 a month. So the decision is the raise worth the move?

so you'll make more $ and live cheaper..not seeing the downside..trust me there is tons of shit to do in Dallas and the surrounding area too
some of my friends and me, all have this belief that the further south you go, the hotter the girls get..i grew up in Chicago and now when I go home..girls I used to think were hot, I now think are average..maybe Im crazy..i dont know..
fly down here and check it out

in my honest opinion, i have lived in pennsylvania, california, singapore, and texas and I love texas more than any other place by far. I love being able to get away from things and go camping and fishing and things of that nature and still have the big city atmosphere around you. You said you were flying out so check it out and see if you like it, although it will take more than one visit to really see if you like it. Oh yah dont know if you are married but the girls down here are more beautiful than any women in the world in my opinion. hope everything goes good for ya

Austin has a better nightlife, but there's lots to do in Dallas.
If you decide on Dallas, here's some apartments I'd recommend:
http://www.reserveatwhiterock.com/si...TOKEN=79721253
It's right next to White Rock Lake (the best thing in Dallas, IMHO) with a 12 mile bike path.
Here's a map of the neighborhood:http://maps.google.com/maps?q=9215+G...i=map&ct=title
There's a gym right across the street (24 hour fitness, I think), and a really good no-nonsense hard-core gym about 2 miles away. It's a short drive to downtown Dallas, and not far from upper and lower Greenvile Ave & entertainment (that's where all the straight folk go, anyway).
As far as renting a $600 apartment in Dallas -- no, I wouldn't recommend it. You could probably find a really good deal somewhere for that much in Dallas, but I wouldn't count on it.
---------
I've lived in several parts of the Dallas area. It's pretty big, lots of different virtues in different areas. Do you want to live close to work, or close to play, or close to a good gym, or close to an airport, in the 'burbs, or just somewhere cheap?Last edited by Tock; 02-21-2008 at 08:48 PM.

I gotta admit, I dont find the overdone, fake and bake Italian chicks in this area to be attractive at all...They wear too much makeup, are overdone, and dress like tramps, and have annoying voices....

Yea texas does have some of the best Pizza in the world!!!jk... No but really Houston strip clubs are some of the best in the world IMO, and trust me you have it made down there as far as the woman go. Women up North look like casper the ghost in the winter, and are always stressed out..

I might have to disagree on this one. I love living in NY and think its the best city in the world, but as someone who has traveled a good portion of their life, I can tell you that women down south and out west are intrigued by men from NY. They love the accent and the whole New yorker attitude. They will be more drawn in, then the girl sitting next to you on the dirty subway. I chill at all the trendy spots, and have to say a well put together NYC girl is hard to beat, but on average,,, woman on a whole are prettier out in texas and down south. They have nice golden tans, workout, and take care of them self much better....
