So who really is OBAMA?
Okay so we all know who obama is.....But in the sense there is so much about him going around. Here what confuses me as to what to believe and what not. Also how has all this not been addressed by him or have i missed it? '
http://urbanlegends.about.com/librar...ama_muslim.htm
or
http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/muslim.asp
cliff notes:
1. obama use to be muslim
2. obama is now christian
3. obama was influenced by two muslims father figures.
4. obama's middle name is arabic " hussien"
5. obama went to school in indonesia that supposedly teaches terrorist's that are currently waging jihad war.
6.obama refuses to recite pledge or hold the bible ( this is false for sure)
7. obama's biological father is muslim from kenya ( which is a great country i myself am kenyan nationality).
7. obama's mum remarried to radical muslim who shared his teaching with obama.
8. obama's mum is atheist so this has to be confusing considering his father and stepfather were radical muslim but than at a later age he goes to a catholic school after attending muslim school
There's alot more, and ofcourse just as any story there's always two sides and some it has to be mud throws by opponents but that's still alot of past that should be looked into.
What do you guys think ?

you americans are so bent out of shape about religion.
religion has no place in the modern world. focus on the policial issues and the war your country is in, not some ridiculous fantasy story about religious this and religious that.
sorry if that offends anyone, but damn....there are more pressing issues in the world than relgion

i'm a firm believer that morality is a human condition, religion only seems to be a scare tactic to make sure people adhere to the morals of a specific religion.
obviously morals need to exist but i dont think they are a result of religion.
i dont believe in any religions but i am a moralistic individual.

Agrees with you one hundred percent there, but you can not live in this world and not say one's religious view will not affect one political views. Every day people bring moral issues into play when making law's or decisions.
What people believe in as far as what's right or wrong comes mostly from what taguht to us by parent's and like it or not religion. My parent's are muslim, and yet i am concerned about this. Do i believe that Muslims' are bad? Absolutely not, considering i know the religion deeply. Am i worried as how some people view Islam to benefit their own views? absolutely.
There are people that know separation of church and state but let's face it...in today's world there are more people that will always believe they are right than wrong or that their's is the moral way... but where does all this come from. As much as we may want to be knowledgeable, there's more ignorant people out there and those people must also be taken into consideration when discussing something.
Sorry if i offended anyone with this thread Mods lock if necessary .. thanks

My friend's name is Joseph.
I guess he is related to Joseph Stalin.....oh shit
See what religion does. They are cults that bring people against each other. Its sad really....
And it shouldn't play a role in politics...

That's good to know that nobody is getting flammed. I do like to think of myself as someone who knows what's right or wrong, and finally i have found a board that agrees religion was created by man out of fear. I don't personally believe in any religion, but that doesn't mean i will be unaffected by other religions. That's why i try to understand other's views even if i personally don't believe in religions.
Anyway good points amorphic..

Whats so scary? Believe and do the best you can in life. Try to treat yourself and others with a little respect. Wow, thats hard. (This is the only post i will make in this thread-just MO) You dudes might be done after this life is over but im not. I dont wanna be dead all over like rover. As for Obama, if elected, more power to him. If he does something to cripple or takes us down the tubes someone will shoot him. Its as simple as that.

it shouldn't play a role and that's correct, but since when do we live in a world that's unaffected by assumptions. As much as we wish for this world to perhaps just do what's best as a whole, there are more people that want to help them selves or the their affiliation.

Why are you jumping in this Amo, you don't have a dog in the fight...
Alot of people, in fact, most people have faith in a higher people, sometimes peeps that are so anti religion come across as condescending and imply that if you foundation in the world is based on Faith, then you are not as intelligent as them.
As to Obama, i don't care about his faith, i disagree w/ him on his political views and platform.

Alrighty then. So, as our Northern neighbor, who has a vested interest in our economy, do you think a tax and spend hard left wing socialist is the tonic foe our economy, you do know that lowering taxes can and often does grow the bottom line, right?
So why the heartburn w/ folks of faith?

the 'heartburn' with folks of faith is related to all the events in the world.
religious fanaticism results in how many deaths and useless wars?
not to mention the brainwashing and lack of inquisitivity religion allows.
Socrates said it best: "the unexamined life isn't worth living."

*Sigh*...this bullshit again? I can't stand Obama as much as any other conservative, but get off this media created propaganda and focus on his actual policies.

All those questions are centralised around him having a Muslim background. Why should that matter regardless? It's not like his policies are going to have anything to with facilitating Islamic policies. He's also trying to publicly detach himself from anything to do with Islam. Who cares about his background if it's not going to negatively affect what he does with his power? He's hardly going to become President and then enforce Shariah law on the nation.
This just reinforces my idea that every religion was originally just an early form of politics and to be honest, still is.

Yea there;s that and then there's also people that believe that any affiliation to a certain religion will have no effect on a man's judgement or decision while in power. Yet we have seen everything from genocide to unimaginable events based on one person who feels he has the power to make a diffrence based on his or her religious view.
Whether one's loves or hates a certain religion, someone who is going to be getting that much power should always be checked and rechecked. hell if he was Hindu or buddist, i would still be sure as to what kind of a person he since just like every one says not everyone are radicals but guess what there are some that are.

How about these people:
Rev. Jimmy "I Have Sinned" Swaggart
http://youtube.com/watch?v=FVHTv0CHwVw
Rev. Tim "I did not have gay sex with that man" Haggard
http://youtube.com/watch?v=mbCRUucI1zk&feature=related
Baptist preacher caught in child sex sting:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=KKGETW-jobc
Or, perhaps you might consider the Bible itself as a good source of morals:
Exodus 22:
"18": Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live.
"19": Whosoever lieth with a beast shall surely be put to death.
"20": He that sacrificeth unto any god, save unto the LORD only, he shall be utterly destroyed.
Do you know anyone who thinks this (preceeding) part of the Bible makes for good morality?
Or perhaps you know of a religious banker who thinks people shouldn't be charged interest on loans, as the Bible declares:
"25": If thou lend money to any of my people that is poor by thee, thou shalt not be to him as an usurer, neither shalt thou lay upon him usury.
"26": If thou at all take thy neighbour's raiment to pledge, thou shalt deliver it unto him by that the sun goeth down:
"27": For that is his covering only, it is his raiment for his skin: wherein shall he sleep? and it shall come to pass, when he crieth unto me, that I will hear; for I am gracious.
======
Sorry, the Bible is chuck full of BS (I don't have time right now for a more thorough listing of its many failings). Neither it nor its followers present anything near a workable system of ethics or morality for anything better than wanton savagery.
Try reading up on the horrors of the Spanish Inquisition, a period of time where the Church/State barrier did not exist, and where the horrors of the Bible overtook the better judgement of many thousands of Christians, and which resulted in the death and torture of millions of non-beleivers.
Some people may thing this sort of thing is good; IMHO, it's ****. Don't you agree?

so i was reading some stuff and this is really intresting .. and to some extent true since i am of kenyan nationality and know who odinga is and what his views are. And honestly am very suprised obama supports him and is related to him via clan.
http://www.stoptheaclu.com/archives/...islamic-jihad/
Let me tell this odinga dude is one crazy dude, hell my family almost got slaughtered coz of this dude oredering havoc back in 2001 and 2002. He really was at one point trying to get the western white and non -muslim brown out of kenya and is trying again. One intresting fact is he is trying re-write constituion laws in kenya that would make any kenyan charged of terroist act to be charge only in kenya and in a sharia place which is rule of land of islam.Last edited by gst528i; 06-06-2008 at 12:11 AM.

politics suck. we havnt had a good president in a long time. i dont care what religion they claim. they all are satanic in practice. lol
-
WTF does religion has to do with that?
Isn't the US the land of freedom and absolute democracy?
That's a big evidence against the US proclaimed democracy state
-
This is pretty messed up right here.
All religions promotes peace butsome extremists go way too far, and that's in all religions.
Crusades, Mojahedeens, Haggana...etc
So George W. Bush is a Christian, right?
I don't think a NAZI would do what Bush has been doing buddy. Religion ain't shit in this. That's your private life and YOUR OWN guidelines for your life.

yea that's not true, i think that came by when he didn't put his hand on his heart when the pledge of alligiance was said while hillary and all other politicians did. But i'm sure he does say the pledge. here's the link, it amazing how they came up with this slender from such a video. I dont think he did anything wrong.

I think most of all that is mud throws by opponents, what concerns me is his affiliation with odinga. If you do some searching i'll tell you he no laughing matter, and for obama to give campaign contribution when he ran for kenyan president is something to worry about.
