bouncing off the chest is another way of training when you hit a plateau.

But yes when you do that ..the bounce comes down with a force and then
your chest and arms gives a good push momentum to help you past that hard point.
it is not suppose to be done every time you hit the gym...just once it a while
to change it up...or you are tring to add strength.

At a gym I used to lift at there was this one guy - horrible, horrible physique. He would put 405 on a smith machine, unlock the hooks and then move the bar like an inch ten times. He'd never even unlock his shoulders or elbows.
Of course he'd then puff his chest out and strut around.
we call that "italian benchpress"
