What are your top 5 pet peeves in the gym?
Number 5. Inflated head, Inflated muscles.
You see him everyday, the guy that does 1 flat bench set, and then spends the rest of the time at the gym walking in a circle with his chest puffed out. Yet not doing anything. Usually an older guy, not wanting to admit defeat to age.
Number 4. The advice guy
Now Im not afraid to take advice from a trained athlete, hell, if the guy next to me is clearly doing something better ill ask for advice. But the what gets under my skin is my man at number 4. The mr. know it all. He was overweight his whole life and dropped 15 lbs and now knows all the secrets, and is the king of form, yet cant seem to put up a quarter of his body weight over his head. Hes so inclined to tell you what your doing wrong and "If he was you he would..."
Number 3. Poor Gym Etiquette
One of the WORST things to do in the gym, is have poor gym etiquette. ie.
Swooping in on someone when theyve finished there first set of lat pull downs and they get up for a breather and turn there back to the machine.
I witnessed it 3 times today. Not only did they take his machine, but changed the weight and bar on this dude.
Number 2. Not having a spot/abusing the spotter
I get it, your partner didnt show up and today was the day to set your new max, so you quickly ask the guy nearest resting to give you a quick spot. Thats definitely cool in my book. However, if your the guy who asks over and over whether it be the same dude or someoen different, then you are wrong my friend. Nothing worse then being stuck behind someone whos getting an intense workout, while youre cutting into yours helping him.
But at the same time, dont try to put up 350lbs alone. Because while you thought you had it, the next thing youre realizing is someone is giving you mouth to mouth because you came 2 heart beats away from dying from asphyxia. Stupidity is deadly. Trust me, Ive failed on weight as light as 185lbs because I thought I had one more in me. It happens to the best of us. But to go in and try putting up bone breaking weight alone is just dumb.
Number 1. The talkers -
These are by far my biggest pet peeve abusers. Everyone else is at the gym trying to work out, and these guys... well... arent. These are the kids, (Usually 16-20) That come to the gym, dressed the part, and pick a section of the gym to lounge on. Theyre all decked out in 150 dollar running shoes, jordan shorts, and under armor shirts... ahh and a headband. Looking all pretty, and lounge on a group of machines and just blah blah blah. Thats it. They are there to take up space and get in the way. They dont even go there to sweat. They usually find some attractive girl and just gawk at her. Nothing like asking someone whos lounging on the leg machine "How many sets do you have left?"

Damn DSM...you are vicious. I actually thought this was a good read and he put a lot of time into it. Thanks man, it made me laugh a few times. And this is one topic that can never be covered too often.

Number one gets me the most.
I forgot my headphones today I think every person in gym came up to me a wanted a 30 minute conversation, I had to cut one of them off. I have to go back to being mean or go to another gym.

I hate number 5, those people piss me off so much. Especially the weak and fat guys. I just want to swing a barbell at their heads.

I generally hate the advice guy more than the others, but thats probably because I have personal experience with one of the most idiotic advice guys walking the planet. He always wears solid color swear suits atleast two sizes too big with a matching headband, and never fails to tell me I should be using the Smith machine more. I'm 6'2 ~215 at 8-9% bodyfat, while he is maybe 5'8 160 at 14+% bf.

curling in the power/ squat rack is the greatest offense one can ever make... and the lighter the weight one does the curls with... the greater the offense actually is

I gotta add... its pretty much number 6... but its still a peeve...
Number 6. Improper Re-Rackers.
You can clearly count from 1-100 (I hope). You know That 65 comes after 35, so why do you insist on putting it in 35s spot, leading to the current handler of the 35 to either a) leave it on the floor, b) put it in 65s spot or c) leave it at the bench. Nothing worse then playing hide and go seek with the weights. Especially when there are 6 duplicate pairs of the weight you want.

I hate when I"m in the gym in the second floor looking down to the first and I have my headphones with my volume up and you can still hear the fuc...ken guy that thinks his the biggest guy in the planet screaming and dropping the weights everytime he does a set.

lol this is very circumstantial... no one wants to spot the weak guy who makes a scene while pressing, but its cool to spot the guy that pushes some weight.
one time i had a guy pop out of the woodwork and was like... "need a spot!!!" in a voice that was waaay too enthusiastic... he looked almost insulted when i told him i didnt need one. ordinarily i woulda took a spot too, but this guy freaked me out, so...

i really only have one pet peeve in the gym... which is similar to talkers. its when you are sitting there waiting for the machine respectfully and another guy comes and starts talking to him. 20 minutes pass by and i check again and that guy still has like 2 sets left which is really ignorant cause i start to get stiff and cold on that certain muscle group and it also ruins the cycle of training i had planned for that day
