    Heart Rate Monitors

Im in the market for a heart rate monitor watch...

One that particularly caught my eye was the nike triax series watch. (c6 and c8)

I was wondering if any of you guys happened to own a heart rate monitor watch and what you would recommend me getting.

Im not a runner or anything but I hate holding those damn heart rate handles on machines. Plus i need a regular watch anyway and figured having the heart rate feature would benefit me tons.

I have a Polar because the chest monitor syncs to most of the cardio machine in the gym therefore you dont need to use the watch

It says that the triax also syncs as well... but how does it do that? With a cord or wirelessly?

No, I use if for fat burn, I just set it at 115 beats a minute and the machine adjusts itself automatically based on my heart rate being transmitted to it from the chest strap

I'm with Kale. I got a Rebok one for like $40. It's waterproof too (incase you ever swim). Syncs to the machines, counts calories, and calculates the time your in the zone (you set the zone ie between 125-150 bbp.)

But why though? What is so much better about polar then nike? Do you have personal exp with the 2?

I did a weeks worth of research and the nike triax c8 comes out on top over the polars in the price group. It actually exceeds polar watches in the $100+ range as well.

Actually yea, my buddy had the nike and I had the polar. I was on a treadmill 4 treadmills away and my polar took over his machine as well.
As far as everything else goes it's all the same, they'll both monitor and count calories out. I got mine off ebay pretty cheap. I don't use the extra features that come with the polar so a cheap 40$ hr monitor would probably work just as well.
