So I work out with my pops every now and then and every single time he gives me a spot he shouts out the gayest shiiit you can think of. It reached its pinnacle with "silky smooth, silky smooth." I mean fvck man! So what the hell should I do? I mean its my dad, and he gets offended kind of easily, but honestly its fvcking up my lifts.

i think the best bet would be just to tell him to tone it down, maybe be quiet period. tell him in such a way that it comes out that you just cant concentrate with the distraction like that. dont mention that he says the gayest shit. LOL. just that when he talks period it breaks your concentration.

or crank your IPOD up so you cant hear him.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. I'll probably just say that I cant concentrate and dont say anything at all.

I have strict spotting instructions for my spotters. No talking and don't touch the bar unless its stuck on my neck, then help me and make me do three more with some assist.

I hate it when you are on rep 7 and you have at least 2 more clean ones and they touch the bar.

Respect him and be with him has much has you can, i lost my dad to cancer 2 years ago, i missed so many chances to make things right.

Lifts are only lifts ask someone else to spot you.

I'm 49 in Janurary, and i've trained women and my 2 kids.. 25 and 27.. so yes, i am speaking with some experience..

And i've had idiots try to spot me even when i tell them exactly how to do it, and what works for me..

Don't look at is as hurting his feelings, look at is as you telling him what works for you, and he'll do it..
