Leg Day at my gym......LOL
SO, I had to go to the gym later today then normal, like at 3 pm.
Now at 3 pm all the little high schoolers come out to do the ritual Chest/Bi's
There were like 50 or more people in the gym and there was only ONE guy, probably the BIGGEST guy in the place mind you, doing LEGS !!!
Yep, you guessed it, it was ME
So, I am sitting on the leg press with 20 plates on it and some older guy comes up to me with his son and Thanks me.....I think , what are you thanking me for???
He continues to tell me how he is working out with his son and trying to teach him the importance of working all his body and not just chest and arms
and him seeing me busting ass on legs helped him to see the importance of it, and how he looks around at all these other guys whose upper bodies are ok but they all have chicken legs and laughs.....lolol
I told him how legs are your foundation and the stronger your foundation, the stronger the rest of your body will become naturally.
Kinda made me feel good to know people notice the hard work we do sometimes......

I remember doing the good ol' chest/bi workouts back in high school
Good job on showing them how it's done. Got any good leg workouts for a guy with two broken vertebrae?? LOL

Thats awsome T. Good to be able to inspire others without even saying a word. 20 plates . I did that once 1 rep I mean at during my last cycle. Can't wait to get back to where I was before the lay off I had. Your post has inspired me to keep striving to get back to where I was. Thanks for the post

Those little high school kids don't realize that if they just did legs once a week their chests, arms and backs would start to get stronger as well.

T, you help people even when you're not on AR.
now that's fvcking commitment!

high school kids and realizations don't come together often. i was just one, and i was very naive too haha. maybe not that bad, but still.
i think my legs are a good size for my body and i've honestly NEVER seriously lifted legs. maybe once a week here or there, but really not often. between soccer my entire life, basketball, catching in baseball (great workout...), track and wrestling, they have come along nicely i think

Well, i have had two back surgeries, on two slipped discs, I used to squat about 600 at my best, but now thats just way too much pressure on my spine
so, i can get to 315 or so squatting but not weekly, what I do is a lot of unilateral work on the machines like leg curls and leg extensions
then i blow out as heavy as I can on the leg press as that dosen't stress my back
I just wish my gym had a hack squat, cause I think I would be ok on that too
Upper legs are 30" now but i got to get them bigger !!!
Now the sad thing is that only about 50% of the people that were at the gym were the high schoolers, the other 50% were adults doing the exact same thing.....

Seems like we're on the same page. I'm stuck on the leg extensions and curls, but I find lunges don't bother my back and give my legs a good workout. It's trial and error really. My two broken (compressed) vertebrae are the L3 and L4 and according to my doctor will never heal more than they already have so I'm kinda screwed in that regard.

lol. The superman pic is fitting. I can picture T flying around educating newbs. So true about legs. I added 30 pounds to my frame (5'6") when I began squatting in 2 years. Natural.

Thanks, I really don't give advice at the gym, i see all kinds of mistakes all the time, but don't want to just go up to someone and say , hey, your doing it wrong
I want to go up to kids so many times and ask them if they are training Tris when they are doing bench cause their elbows are right by their sides most of the time..... but then I think , its not my place to correct them and they may get pissed thinking who the hell is this guy telling me I'm wrong. So unless they come to me, I mind my own business and just watch and laugh
I see the same guys that I have seen for years there and they don't look one pound different
me, I was 225 at beginning of year, decided to bulk, got to 245 before cycle, now on cycle currently sitting around 270 hoping for another 10 before I cut the fat.......
oh well...............

I love leg day, but hate it afterwards. Right afterwards, and 2 days later.

Only 20 plates T-mos. Come on, I'm a 160 lb shrimp and I do 14. You're not trying.
I have to move leg day to monday. I'm one of the herd that starts the week with chest. Never realized that this is why mondays are so frustrating. Only problem is that leg day takes so much out of me that I like putting it at the end of the week.

that reminds me, i just got back from the gym and there was a guy there smaller than me doing 475 on squats, yelling at the top of his lungs before the set to get people to look over, then doing 1/2 squats maybe
anyway, i was almost done with my workout and was right next to him and the guy he was training, well he (squat dude) was trying to show his friend how to do stiff leg deadlift, but his friends lower back was bending all the way down
so i'm watching and smiling and his friend looks over at me and says, "Am i doing this right?", and just laugh and say, "No."
squat dude gets kinda pissed and say, "And why don't you think his form is good?" and i replied, "First off cause you don't know what form is, as is obvious by your "squating" technique." then i explained how to properly do stiff legs to his friend and continued on my workout
i know, i was being a dick but the whole yelling before his set when he's in the middle of the floor and not even in the squat rack kinda pissed me off

Funny story, but I hope you're not comparing me to this guy.
14 Plates on a leg press is hardly something to brag about. I have strong legs for my size, but only because my size is small. And I bring my knees to my chest everytime.
The most I ever squat is 225 because my back aint near as strong as my legs. To really crush my legs I need the leg press because my back won't support enough weight.
