sorry, i'm a bit extreme sometimes, if he had his own bathroom you could use an irritating compound and put it on the toilet seat so when he uses the rest room his ass gets really itchy and irritated for a few days

then put it on the door handle, toilet flushing handle and sink handles so it'll get all over his hands, face etc...

it could be traced, the sodium metal will react with the water via a redox reaction

2Na(solid) + 2H20(liquid)---> 2NaOH(aqueous) + H2(gas)

so it will produce a strong base and hydrogen gas, the water could be tested for OH- concentration but the sodium solid will dissociate completely in the water

you would have to be careful though as sodium metal is VERY reactive
