I played defensive line at the semipro level rockinred. I actually played all front 7 positions at some point in my college/pro/semipro career. For those of you who don't know, that means I played defensive tackle, nose tackle, defensive end, outside linebacker (both strong and weak), inside/middle linebacker. I've had 13 knee surgeries and too many concussions to count. What rugby players don't realize is that the protection that football players were doesn't make the game safer, it actually makes it less safe because players play with less worry about injuries because of the protection. How often to you see head to head collisions in rugby? While on the football field, those types of contacts happen every play. Especially in the 'trenches'!!!

    BTW, Baseball FTW!!!!

I don't know what that means, but I'll try.

It's not a knock on the game of rugby. But look at the "big hits". If that's as hard as a 260 pound bad-ass tough rugby player can hit, then I ain't impressed. Bottom line is you really can't hit as hard as you possibly can in rugby. You would knock yourself out on just about every play, and there would be horrific injuries. It's a matter of physics and biology. Comparing them is like comparing paintball to being a police officer. It's like a paintballer saying "you wear a bullet proof vest, you must be a *****. In paintball we get hit without padding and we are so tough". Well when the bullet is made of medal and traveling 3x the speed of a paintball, you have to.... Or you die.

And if you don't believe me about college football players hitting harder than rugby players, then check this out.
