UPDATE: had a 2 hours interview. They are REALLY interested got 20K pay raise(if i got the job offer) their normal procedure was first HR takes interview then IT TAKES THE INTERVIEW IN MY CASE THEY made exception and went a head and IT took the interview and after 5 minutes of leaving the building I got call from the same company (HR dept) to come in tomorrow and bring references. If everything went according to plan I will have job offer till Wednesday next week exactly 2 weeks after I got the letter. Plus I also have Lunch with IT director and IT manager on Thursday. Things are getting really interesting. I may end up with multiple job offers. I just thought to give you guys update.
thanks for the the best wishes , good lucks and being there for me and my family during the tough times.

Refer to post #3
I told you not to worry about it, dont let it get you down and same as with me it was always a step UP.
Now try to remember this and apply it in other parts of your life when you feel/think things are crappy or not working out how you want it to. It could work out better than you imagined.
If you were not getting let go you would not be getting a $20 a year raise, right? What started out as gloom and doom has turned out to be a blessing, thus the saying every cloud has a silver lining. Problem is most people dont ever see it because they focus on the cloud/gloom and doom.
If you can learn to let go of the gloom and doom 1st reaction when things dont go as planned you will find life MUCH easier, happier and less stressful. Learn to be a cup 1/2 full kind of guy. I know everyone like to think they are but most arent. If they were they would not worry about things so much, focusing on every little penny they make or get upset when something does not work out as planned. As you see not as planned can be better.
BTW I disagree with the NOT looking any further. You could be passing up a $50K a year raise by settling to soon. You may be selling yourself short. I dont mean you should not accept this offer but stay open to other offers and go on interviews if you are called. I have a buddy that has quit jobs 2 weeks in because he got better offers just after starting his new jobs. He has never gone backwards,
Congratulations.

Thank you Lovbytes. Here is the reason I am reluctant. The lunch I have on Thursday is with another home builder company. My concerns are
1. Family owned businesses are fvcking mess.
2. Housing industry goes up and down like a yoyo (believe me i have seen all 5 yrs with this company).
3. Even if they hire me with 50K raise guess who will get chopped off when the housing industry goes down?
Most of the housing industry is family owned in Calgary. I have been here for 5 yrs and I have seen them spending money like crazy when situation is good and letting 10 ppl go in one day when things are tight. Even though things look up and up for housing industry they still let me and other designer fellow go.
I read post 3 I appreciate what you said and again what you have said now. If someone else called for an interview I am going dont you worry about that.
