usually something like disturbed for lifting and electronic house music for cardio. Lately for moderate cardio I like to put my smart phone on the threadmill/stairclimber and I have a playlist of motivational bodybuilding videos on youtube that I watch. Pyschs me up to push longer and harder

I listen to Rick Astley's greatest hits before I lift. It gets me in the f[u]cking zone.

I just listen to the gym crap. . . It's not bad.
I just can't stand having headphones in while lifting weights.

i have different playlists depending on my workout. faster pace for running and stronger slower beat for lifting, disturbed, poison...etc.
also sometimes I just put the ear buds (no music) so the trolls don't ask me 3 questions to enter the big boys side of the gym....and I got that advice from this site.

banging techno or 90s hip hop for heavy lifts
cardio is always house, tech house, or something chesey with vocals

You ever check out Klaus Badelt? He did the first Pirates of The Caribbean before Zimmer took over. Good stuff there....
Alan Silvestri is another one of my favourite film composers..
I don't think this stuff would pump me up for the gym, but it's definitely good stuff to listen to and drift away from reality for a bit.

What do you consider hardcore or metal? My preference is def on the harder side but lately Ive been putting the Ipod on shuffle, it can go from Slayer to Korn to Mr. Bungle to Bee Gee's to Buddy Holly to Slipknot, shit I even have 3 beethoveen albums on there lol it gets crazy. If I know I wanna really hit it I put on something harder.

Or
John Madden doing the commentary for my cardio
