I've recently begun moonlighting as a bouncer for some extra cash on the weekend nights. I do it at a place that doesn't just cater to one particular scene. They host different shows and events that attract different crowds on a regular basis.

Last night was incredibly interesting... I actually wasn't weirded out or freaked out by any of it, I found it really interesting.

Has anyone ever been to things like this? I was really surprised by how many people showed up to this. Must have been a good 300-500, I couldn't keep track. Makes you wonder how many of our friends, co-workers, colleagues, etc. get into this kind of stuff every now and then to have a good time. Everyone's got their little fetishes and secrets eh? lol

New Orleans has (had?? haven't been there since before "Katrina") an underground bar called the Dungeon. It opens at 11PM and closes at 6AM. Part of the bar is actually underground in a cement tomb. Very cool. Mostly goth scene. I prefer house and dance clubs but this one was entertaining. It's funny now that i think of it. when i was a kid, i'd go to the city (SF) and there'd be these wild parties on Broadway (redlight district, etc.). On one side of the street, there was a Satanic store (i think anton svander lavay owned it) and then on the other side, there'd be all these strip joints. So some of the parties i'd go to, there'd be the stripppers wearing some funky shiit, and then the bald headed satinist looking crowd, and everyone else in between. this was back in the late 70's

This would probably be on par with the types of parties you folks are talking about today?

Oh this was far more than a costume/halloween type of party. These people were all really into it.

Of course, not 100% of everyone there were dressed up in fetish outfits. There were some people dressed casually, some people in suits, etc. Seems like it attracted people who were also quite curious about the whole scene. I could definitely see there were those who were heavy into it, those who seemed to be curious, and then some people who just showed up for the party/clubbing environment.
