I have bad shoulders or i would bow hunt. I will have to get a crossbow if I get one.
But to answer your question. Matthews is probably the best out there. Also the most expensive.

avid bowhunter here. First off decide how much you want to spend. Next Stroll into the local archery store look at your salesman flex and kiss your bicep so they know you are the boss.

Next get your draw length measured.

Now they are going to talk about speed wait to move up to bows that really push speed because they are much more finicky.

You need to consider let off. Let off is given in percentages so if your drawing 80 pounds and the let off is 50% at full draw your actually only holding 40 pounds back.

Then you have to consider length. The longer the bow the less finicky it is.

Single cam vs dual cam. I shoot dual cam they are faster but harder to tune. Single cam is still plenty fast has a better "wall" most of the time and easier to tune. I would go dual(multi cam) but its all I have ever shot.

Next big one is arrow rest for a beginner I would go with a whisker bisquit pretty much fool proof.

Then you have your sightes i would go with three pins to began with.

Then your release aid, quiver, arrow and broadhead selection, dampeners, etc. Go to a reputable archery shop. I would recommend mission, they are made by mathews just not as expensive.
