Have a Facebook? Think Again

First link lists how little your private info can be purchased at from FB.
Second one describes FB flaws which allow you to get credentials for accounts.

The second one seems to be about how they disabled the functionality completely that allowed the logins. Soooo, problem solved.
I don't understand trying to spread fears about Facebook. Don't put info on FB you wouldn't want anyone to have. It is for sharing interests and superficial information. Nobody can take over your bank accounts or a nuclear reactor by logging into your FB account.
If you are afraid that vital and dangerous information will expose your secret life as a spy, then don't use Facebook.
I know I am using a lot of sarcasm, so let me also say that there are dangers: like announcing to the world when your house is unattended. I publish vacation photos after I return home, for example. I don't "like" anything that makes me look like an ass such as "I heart big ol' titties."

And I have a phone, too. I use it for phoning people.
But when I want to share vacation photos, or set up an event, or just see what my network of friends is sharing, I use Facebook. Like JohnnyVegas said, if you are careful not to put stupid stuff up, what s the harm? It is a tool that is good for certain purposes, just like a phone, a blender or a car. I don't get people with thr anti-facebook mentality.

I have always found it amazing that for the past 5 years when I ask people what facebook is 95% of the people I have asked said its a social media site, the other 4.9% did not know.
Clearly its a data mining operation, nothing more nothing less. One of the really Fvd up things is that lots of the personal preferences data is a compilation of things your friends on facebook may be into. My page for example said that I liked Pro Wrestling (till I fixed it) because I have a friend whose son I train who is an aspiring Pro Wrestler.
While this kind of thing may seem harmless many companies now use facebook data to build character profiles on potential employees...Would you really be inclined to think highly of a 57 yr old who is into Pro Wrestling LOL
I would not think of it as harmless as long as your not a spy and don't share deep personal information, it really does not take much to give a bad impression, thats for sure.

I completely agree. I don't have a Facebook account either. I also don't use google due to the privacy concerns. They collect sooo much data on you that they have dedicated servers for it. Cookies are relatively small, but when half the world uses it, it adds up. What are they doing with all this data, and why not eventually flush the logs? Privacy is a last concern, I'm sure. Good stuff guys!

I have a Facebook page and a fan page. Fun when I was younger. I go on to chat to mates. Or them to chat to me. Arrange dos see what might be goin on. Plus get invites to mates clubs or parties. It don't matter what you do. If you let yourself get preyed upon without watching your finer credentials then that'll happen simply by using ur CC in the wrong place. U just gotta be savvy. Now twitter. Fkin hate twitter lmao. Bunch of twits. Lol. But it works for others but hell. Just lock urself in a room n say goodbye to the world if u can't look after urself ;-)
Thought I'd. Add. Juss look up proxy servers n proxy browsers if ur worried. N there's enough anti government spying software out there if u think big brothers interested in looking at random people using their comps tooLast edited by MajorPectorial; 06-08-2013 at 07:17 PM.

Had FB in college, now have no use for it. I use linkedin instead, facebook is full of other people's bs and drama that I'm just not interested in. Privacy is a real issue there as well.

If you really wanted to clone a persons identity, you could do it pretty easily without the use of facebook, It doesnt take a genuis to work out how to get that info, may take a little longer, but nevertheless, its still out there.

What gets me is when I would have friends post on their status "gone for 3 days to san diego", I always felt like it was an invite to break into their house and steal stuff.

I think it got real bad when FB opened up to the general public. Prior to that it was all college students.

FB No Good
To sum it up, FB sells your data. FB Sucks. If you do not like privacy, and want your info sold to all the wrong people go to FB.
FB was built upon lawsuits, greed, and out of court settlements over theft.
