Loved the original Chronicles of Riddick and have watched it more times than I care to admit, but I hear this one is not good. But, you can't believe the critics. Look forward to hearing opinions.

The original was actually one called Pitch Black also w Vin diesel and wasn't all that great. Chronicles of Riddick I thought was great but I haven't seen the new one yet.... Titled I guess simply Riddick. This is actually the third in the series

Correct. Never cared for Pitch Black.

OK got it, that makes more sense now, #3 in the series. It's about time.

I thought it looked decent...havent seen in though..i actually liked pitch black

Riddick is pretty good, and reminiscent of Pitch Black in that it's Vin vs. the planet and bounty hunters, whereas Chronicles of Riddick was about planetary conquest and had a large cast. It ends rather abruptly, but is quite engaging, and (for a change) explores some of the frailties of Riddick along with his notable superhuman qualities.
