One last thought PP
(PP, that doesn't sound right. I'll come up with something better)
but one last thought. I've been through a few rough patches, and fell low, similar to where you are now. Mine was work related, and the difference between the higher responsibilities of my ethics and licensure and the lower demands of some of my former companies wanting me to make the "Numbers look good". I took the high ground and had to resign more than once. Although my conduct was proper and expected in my line of work, it's hard to explain to my family why I haven't brought home a pay check in six months. As I look back, I now see that I was able to manage and something always came through to get me by. I believe it strengthened me and my resolve to conduct my affairs ethically. Although my situation is not as extreme as yours, I believe the same basic principles apply. True, you may lose a house and some income for awhile. And you may have to go to county medical instead of a better quality PPO/HMO you are ordinarily expecting, but I think, 12 months from now, if you come back, you will say that you somehow managed and are OK. It's tough to see that from where you are at the moment. Truth is, when you "hurt", all you can see is right now....
....but quite often, the future has a funny way of working out.

I have to agree with the 100% Been there done that also. Ive been laid off from work a couple of times but always kept a positive attitude. 1st time was when my daughter was 6mo old and we had just bought a house. I managed to keep things afloat barely basically ran out of options the same week I got another job. 2nd time was when my daughter was 2, 1/2 during my divorce and wife died just at the end of the whole mess. Got a job about 3 months later. Luckily it was not sooner or my head would not have been in the game.
Things have a way of working out and sometimes it's for the best even if it does not look like it at first.

Thanks guys. Things are getting better. I got my Tax Audit in so now just waiting to see what the state comes back with. I'm sure they will find a way that I owe them money but I'm not too worried about it now that it's done. That was one of the most stressful things I've ever had to do because it was for 2 years and I had to recreate my mileage logs for every single day of the 2 years that corresponded with the mileage I had put down when I filed. I worked in outside sales so i was driving 50,000+ miles per year. I spent 75 hours at least working on that alone until I found a software that I bought to make that easier.
I found out what was going on in my business and why my numbers are down. We have been busting our asses to turn that around and make a better customer service experience and we're starting to get response from that. We are selling more (not enough but going in the right direction) so we're better off than we were last month. I had both my credit cards compromised at the same time so that hurt. I turned that into a positive and was able to cancel a bunch of programs I was paying for with the business that I really didn't need and wasn't using. I either cancelled or cut back things we were offering that weren't doing well and added more of what we do great with to attract new customers and to give current customers more options.
I basically just remotivated myself to get things in order and it's starting to work. I'm in a much better place now so hopefully I can keep it going. Thanks for the positive feedback.

I think what happened was I was running in Crisis Mode and not making good decisions. Those bad decisions were compounding and we were not doing the right thing. I took a step back and reached out to my customers to find out what was going on. I got some good hard answers and immediately made the change and everyone is happy again. It's a learning curve and I have the best job in the world and don't want to lose that. It was my dream since I was a little kid so I need to keep things going.
