American Gods
I read the book and it was spectacular!
I was going to start a thread on good books and searched up American Gods.... Low and behold they are making a series of it on Starz! I watched the trailer and everything they showed about Shadow is holding true to the book.
It starts tomorrow, I am literally ordering Starz channel just to watch it.
Shadow, works at a gym with his friend and was incarcerated for beating a man nearly to death. Upon release he finds himself in the care of a nearly forgotten God.
I am stoked! If you haven't read the book do it.
American Gods is well worth the read!
The things Shadow goes through are indescribable and he is a badass!
Definitely in my top ten books of all time!

Also, just kind of creepy, I read that book years ago and I just so happened to search it up one day before the series, I had no clue about, starts...
Strange indeed.

Great book indeed! Read it years ago too.
I'd suggest reading Stephen King's The Dark tower series

Lol! I usually try to keep it 500 pages or under! I would have gave up too probably.
I wish they had got someone bigger to play Shadows role. In the book he was a head turning big man. Not complaining though because I always wished they would make a movie of it. First episode is tonight at 9pm.

They are straying from the book a little, but its still awesome. They are bound to add things to make the story longer. I just hope it doesnt get over the top.
How about that gal swallowing folks with her vagina! Lmao

Just got to finally watch last weeks episode. Wow that went in a weird direction. I ordered the audio book on audible just to listen to it in my truck on the way to work and running errands. Worth it.
Story is deviating from the book enough that characters such as laura are taking a whole different role. Still like it though.

Check yer mail.
Ian McShane is a treasure. Amazing that he got so damned old before he became 'famous.' I caught a rerun of the old Tom Selleck Magnum P.I. that he was in. Damned if I recall ever seeing him back then. But he sure as hell made his mark in HBO's "Deadwood."
I love Pablo Schreiber's work, too. Like I said elsewhere, he and his half-brother Liev Schreiber (Ray Donovan) should own Hollyweird. Except I can't figure which sucks worse, Mad Sweeney's Irish accent or his "red" hair.

Agree on Ian.
He fits that part so damn well with his personality. When I read the novel he was exactly what I pictured in my head for Wednesday.
Truly wish they would have made AG a movie instead of a series though. People are moving away from it on the second season and ratings are falling as they deviate from the book. The book was an absolute work of art. Curious if they will ever make it up to the northland where shadow hides out from Mr. World. Or if he will ever hang from the World tree.
I just read that a second novel was made to American God's. I will have to pick it up.
