Things You thought you couldn't live without

What are some materialistic products you thought you could never live without and now do?

For me, I have not owned a microwave in 3 years. One day had a nasty thunderstorm, breakers tripped, microwave got fried. Didn't have time to get another and started using the oven. Plan was to go to walmart and get a new one. One week goes by, then one month, then one year. I don't find the oven inconvient and it's one less appliance to clean or worry about now.

    How about everyone else ?

    Cable/satellite TV.

I've been in my new place almost a year, i always meant to hook it up, but never did. Netflix, hulu, etc had kept me going for far less money than I was paying before.

I thought I also had to have cable. Been years with an antenna and I can download everything I want to watch about 10 minutes after it airs. The only downside is NCAA sports. BTW the UFC fights are all on edited without commercials in the same time peroid.

Yeah OTA is pretty legit. Especially if you have an OTA DVR.

It would have to be my PC for me

I mainly watch Funimation (yeah I watch anime, and will not apologize for it!) and Amazon. Rarely Netflix only when they come out w new marvel stuff. I was going to cut my cable, but when I tried, they said internet= $70, cable + internet = $72 (same speed). So I took the double play.

That's awesome. I could live without the running water, phones, and internet...... But not having an electric coffee maker with fresh ground beans..... That's not a life i want. Otherwise it sounds perfect!

Starting a company! Not the reason I came here. My wife is a scientist and her job decides to a large extent where we live. Trying to get out of this place now but that process will take a couple of years.
