anyone else have problem buying clothes?
its annoying - I have an eye out always for cheap designer clothes but it is hard to find any to fit they just dont seem to have a lot of the stuff i look for with an 18.5 neck and size 50 suits
kiton, brioni, Armani, abboud, bijan, D&G, Behar, Loro Piana - you know, good stuff *sigh*

It's impossible. The bad thing about "bigger" sized clothes is that they're meant for fat guys, not body builders. Then again i wear dickies and wife beaters most of the warm weather.

Yea thats why i have to get everything taylor made. I could never go into a store and buy a 54 coat and have it fit.
In the back of my mind though it kinda makes me feel good =-)

I have not been worn a suit in a while, and I wore one this past Sunday...not too good.
My neck no longer fit in the shirt. My shoulders and arms no longer fit in the coat. I had a little David Banner action going on when I reached down to pick up my kid.
I just bought that suite last summer. I already had problems then, but now it will be even more difficult to find fitting clothes.

Well, I can't say that I am wearing a **** 50 sized coat, but I know my 46's have to be tailored or they look like crap..I stick to Armani and Hugo Boss suits because they hang the best and accentuate a good physique..I will probably never see a size 50, so I can't really say anything useful..And I definitely feel your pain with jeans..If the waist fits, then the **** legs look like spandex..I have always had a difficult time buying jeans that fit me right and when I do find some I wear them until they either fall apart or my wife sneaks into my closet and tosses them in the trash can..

I don't have too much trouble, except in the shoulder area. It's like they design shirts for guys who's waists are bigger then their shoulders. What the ****s up with that. But what can you do.

This would require some planning though because you want to buy clothes that look decent, last and don't fall out of style. Unless of course you enjoy spending big $$$ on clothing.

Yeah, it does suck. I need to buy a new suit, but I am about to start a new cycle soon, so . . . I'm going to wait. Hugo Boss is a good cut for bodies like ours, but I am still going to spend a boatload on alterations when I do buy it. Luckily, my best friend works at the HB corporate HQ in Cleveland, so I can save some dough.
Still, its expensive getting everything tailored. I have a nice long coat in the closet that looks like a mumu when I wear it, because only the shoulders fit. I have to get that one altered too, one of these days.
As for jeans, I can't wear most either, but Old Navy makes some nice loose (or relaxed fit?) jeans. I have a few pairs of those that fit pretty good. Its not perfect, but its better than the spandex look of most brands.

You guys must spend alot of money on clothes by the names of brands you buy. I'm a cheap bastard. I don't think I've ever spent more than 20 bucks for a shirt or a pair of pants. I do have problems finding clothes though. One size will be too small, and the next size up will be too big because they are made for fat people. My biggest problem is finding shoes though. I wear a size 17.

I have the same prob with suits
neck= 18.5
chest= 52 (50 in some)
waist= 38
now the worst part I'm only 5'8"!!!

the arms are always to tight..and stuff is always tight across the back...I wear suits 5 days of the week...so I have to have everything custom made...living in Italy makes this easy..but I get tired of not being able to sport clothes that are easily bought.

I have suck a hard time finding clothes. I can only got to one store to buy jeans. The problem is that I am 5'6 and I am all legs. I have a 36 inseam. I mean its good cause i used to model but still. And also my waist is so small. I wear a size 0,1,3. 3 is only if the pants run small. But one day I am gonna invent my own store where only the people llike me can buy clothes there..

Have any of you tried on an "athletic cut" jacket (suit)?

But the thing with mine is I like them to fit nicely around my thighs and stuff and the lenght to be good. The only place that I can get then like that is the place around me its called "EXITQ13". Its a great store but its expensive.

The last suit I bought was 2 years ago when I was 25lbs lighter. Went to put it on for a wedding and it was hilarious, the pants fit good, guess that means I have to hit the legs harder.

Not to bump up an old thread...but
Hey all, I don't mean to bump up an old thread but after a search and not finding anything, I wanted to let you all know about a website I found the other day while looking to get some new dress shirts for my new job.
http://www.landsend.com/
In my few years on this planet I have drastically changed my weight and I have always had trouble finding dress shirts and suits that fit (16 yrs old 6'3" 140 lbs, 20 yrs old 6'3" 290 lbs, 25 yrs old 6'3" 215 pounds) and this company after taking a short survey on your body style will custom make dress shirts for you ($49-$99 depending on material quality) that they guarantee will fit or you send it back and they try again. Its a pain in the ass time-wise the first time around, but after that they have all your measurements on file and the process speeds up a lot the next time around. I haven't tried it out yet, but I believe they can do suits too in separates not unlike Brooks Brothers.
Another thing I found this weekend is Nautica is now doing separates on some of their lines including their new super 130s line. If you know anything about materials, the higher the number in the thread counts, the better the feel/quality of the suit, for reference, even brands like Gucci, Armani, and Valentino typically only use super 110s/120s and I had one on when I went to the store and I can tell you the Nautica 130s felt a lot better and I felt a lot better when I was told I could buy a 48L jacket with a 34 waist pant (Typically 48L suits come with 42 waist pants)
Ok thats all, sorry for the "light" reading...
