^^Agreed, he is one of those guys with all of the ability in the world but can never capitalize. He also has problems with his stamina.

LOL neither one of them can be considered even a competent striker.

I’m talking about a world class boxer stile striker. I don’t want to get into the Boxing vs MMA argument my point was simply to point out Fedor was struggling to get past Arlovski’s 1-2 punch combination because of his superior speed and movement.

If he didn’t get careless with a stupid flying knee and continued just to box with Fedor it would have been a much better fight. I’m not saying Fedor wouldn’t have won but in MMA you have to play to your strengths and exploit the other guy’s weakness.
And despite his heavy hands it has to be said Fedor’s weakness is on his feet.

^^^great points but again its hard to call his stand up a weakness when he has knocked out two top 5 heavys in his last two fights. Schilt is also top shelf talent on the feet, he has been virtually unbeatable in k1 since his fedor loss.

Exactly. Sometimes being an unorthodox striker like Fedor can actullay be his strong point. His head movement while being able to throw an extremely powerful punch is great IMHO.

absolutely. he can swing for the fences as well because he is equally comfortable on the ground. The threat of going to the mat is sometimes enough to tunring a striking advantage to a disadvantage

I agree with you guys about Fedor. I definitely wouldn't call his boxing a disadvantage. I will say that Arlovski is a better boxer...I think anyone who knows the fighters can atest to that. But I think Fedor knew how suspect Arlovski's chin was and knew that eventually he would catch him and at least hurt him to where he could capitalize and get the fight on the ground and finish it.

I mean look how many power punches Fedor through in that fight. I am not sure if he through a jab but if he did it was only to set up a power punch. Anyways I am looking forward to him and Barnett.

I think that Barnett is going to get smashed. I am a Barnett fan but if he struggled like that against Gilbert he is going to be hurting against the Mad Russian

I think he controlled Gilbert really well, he just could not finish him for anything.

I think Barnett is a great wrestler, puts together a great fighting package between his ability and his game plans.

IMO he is just not very explosive.

Your right. He is top shelf and probably beats anyone out there short of an improved AA and Fedor. His size will always been an interesting variable so at the very least the fight will be worht watching

Guys do u actually know that Fedor got 300.000 usd for that fight while Andrey got 1.5 million ?
Plus I disagree that Tim Silvia wasn't considered a striker because I remember his record 16-0 with 12 last fights were by KO .... Im sorry that's not a lucky puncher . He knows what he's doing. He was KO'ing people left and right in Japan and here 6'8 momo who was juicing can't be underestimated. When someone says " oh that guy is nothing" about 6'8'' 260 few times former world champ that just shows the biggest mistakes fighters make. The reason why Fedor is good ( one of the reasons lets say that) because he trains hard for every fight like its his one and only fight , his last fight to be.
He doesn't underestimate anyone and comes out on top. I'd love to see Barnett-Arlovskiy fight.
Barnett vs. Fedor ..............I'll bet my $100 against anyone's $50 any day any time. Contact me before the fight and we can make it work out !

Yeah Fedor made less than Tim Sylvia also but what you don't see are the stipulations in his contract where he gets a percentage of the PPV money and also gets a percentage of DVD sales when it is released and I am sure there is other things that he makes money from. In the end he winds up making way more than 1.5 million.
