lets find a definition that includes these attribues to the highest degree possible, consistency soundness and completeness....

I'd say a sport is a competition which requires physical abilities, such as hand-eye coordination, power, endurance, accuracy and consistency...

I don't think it's a male beauty pagent. There are some ugly s.o.b. that compete.

Not to take anything away from the hard work, dedication and discipline.

But IMO it's more of a competition.

Bodybuilding is not a sport, but a lifestyle. It isn't some game where you can jump into it, it goes 24:7, all up to one date, when the competitor exhibitions what they have accomplished.

I would have to disagree when you say its a sport...... Its a competition... Granted this competition requires the competitor to work harder than any sport known to man to push himself past preconcieved limits and master his body in an almost in human way.... but its still a comp... Ok maybe its a sport =P

no its a more of a beauty show that requires competitors to make some "sporty" lifestyle changes. Bodybuilding makes suggestions on performance, but it has no direct indication on performance and therefore isn't a "sport" in my opinion

So anything that requires dedication, commitment and intensity is a sport? - That is the worst piece of logical reasoning I have ever seen!

Definitin of a sport is-an athletic activity requiring skill or physical prowess and often of a competitive nature. Does BBing require these things and is it competitive, then yes I think it would be.

Yes It most surely is, the gym time is merely preparing urself the same way athletes do for football and baseball ect. The competition is that of a any sporting game. It is very hard work and takes alota dedication, U definitely get what u earn, nobody can't build muscle for you but you!!! It is a rather lonely sport tho, I'm by myself most of the time when I train, but its better that way for drowning out distractions. Yeah it is a sport, u train, u sweat, u prepare, and u can most definitely get hurt. Just like with any other sport.
