    pwo w/o carbs??

i recently read about a pwo strategy without the use of carbs. instead of carbs it suggests a large amount of leucine, glutamine, and protein.

i of course, am skeptical, but i figured i'd check here to see if anyone else has had success building muscle without the use of carbs in pwo.

no you need carbs, big time!!

the body breaks them down into amino acids, and your body needs that, especially after a good workout your body will be catabolic, in which even after a workout youlll need MORE carbs since you depleted your carb amount DURING the workout

thanks to everyone here in the Diet Forum in educating me with stuff!!

IMO, what I have done in the past works great. Bake a potatoe very hot, wrap in foil, place in gym bag along with pwo beverage Celltech. Enjoy on your way home to obtain pwo meal or shake

Your body does not break down carbs into amino acids sorry. Protein is made of amino acids, carbs are made of saccharides.

But yes carbs are very important pwo.

No Carbs = No insulin Spike (Mabye a small one from the protein) = No Glucose for Muscles = Crazy.

Glutamine promotes muscle growth and decreases muscle catabolism but i am uncertain to what degree.

Mabye but doesnt sound very good to me!!

    You're right to be skeptical...

I have tried immediate PWO (within 5-10 mins) BCAAs with extra leucine and a small amount of whey isolate while cutting. Immediately afterward (i.e. when I got home 20 minutes later), though, I would have a full PWO meal with carbs, of course.

As far as building muscle without carbs post workout, I think your best bet is to get your carbs in within the 45 minute window.
