Real Food "Shakes"
I have read all the info on this board and probably the entire internet on Real Food vs. Shakes or Powders. I guess I would agree that real food has many more benefits and the only real benefit of a shake is convenience. I have a little different question than has been asked on this board (and several others, and all over the internet and in every gym) over and over again. Actually I have three questions the other two are related but not as in depth or as frequently discussed. These questions are in relation to bulking a bulking cycle only.
1) If a shake is made from all real food products and has all the correct macro's that one needs for that meal, is it any different from eating actual food? For example a shake that includes; milk, egg whites (pasteurized), natural peanut butter, flax oil, raw oats (powdered in a food processor) fruit(raw). No protein powder except pwo and maybe one other during the day.
2) Would it be OK to get 60 percent, or more, of ones calories from these shakes per day.
3) Is it Ok for one to get over half his/her protein from milk/eggs/peanut butter and the rest from meat and two whey powder shakes?

1- only diff as far as i can tell is lack of thermogenic effect of digestion process - nutritionally should be the same
2- id say it would be ok to get some calories from shakes like this - but i personally wouldnt let it be the majority of calories. Thats just me.
3- id say those protein sources are fine - id try to limit myself to 1 protein shake per day - not 2 ....... agian thats just me.

I'll append.
Additionally: less satiety... faster gastric clearance.
If you can assimilate said calories without gastric irritation... it would be 'ok'.
I see no fiber listed... Additionally, overdependence on a limited number of food sources can lead to allergies.
So personally, I wouldn't depend on just those.

Fiber isnt a norm with respect to protein sources. He does have peanut butter that has decent fiber in it ...but this statement confuses me as he was referring to protein. Also eggs / milk / peanut butter / meat / whey - thats not exactly depending on say 1 or 2 sources??? I mean yeah be nice to see some fish or chicken thrown in - but i know plenty that rely solely on egg protein and chicken. Not sure im with ya on this point Nark.....

Refer to his first statement:

Milk, peanut butter, whey ---> 3 potential allergens
Meat, eggs --> primary protein sources
To re-iterate: I would suggest some variety.

^^You gave suggestions and input, and I did the same.
It doesn't need to be congruent.
